How often do you request a specific table or change tables?

When my wife and I go to certain restaurants in DW, we will occasionally request a certain table or area of a restaurant we like. We also have asked for alternate seating if we are brought to a table that is too close to others. We try not to do this often, but really want to enjoy every meal. I know there must be others that do this as well. If so, just curious - does it depend on the restaurant or do you always ask for a specific location?

Not strictly Disney related, but I will asked to be reseated if I am near the bathrooms or the kitchen. I am not into having that amount of traffic walking past me. I've had one host give me a bit of attitude, and another offer a free appetizer (we took her up on that offer).

We request no booths, even at Sci-Fi. I do not care to have my meal interrupted to let people in and out.

The only place at WDW that I requested a different seat was at Rose & Crown. My DH and I are bigger people and they took us to a tiny little table that had one chair against the wall and the other about 6 inches from the table behind it. There is no way we could have physically fit there. The host was nice about getting us a different table, but I could tell he was sort of annoyed that we asked. Surely he would have seen that there was no way we were going to fit at that table.

We always ask to be seated right by the aquarium window at Coral Reef and usually have been accommodated

Once in a while, I may make a request but I do hate to put restaurant staff out because as has been noted in thread, they do get visibly annoyed sometimes when you object to the first place they want to seat you.

In my case, as I have been a solo diner over the last 10 years at Disney, I have had staff try to shuffle me off to the bar at times, at which time I always tell them, "No thank you, I prefer a table". One time, even after telling the hostess this at Jiko, the waiter she gave me then proceeded to take me to 'The Cooking Place' area, which isn't a bar, technically, but that offer had been broached to me, as well, by the hostess, and I had already politely refused it, so I don't why the waiter proceeded to still take me there, well of course, I spoke up and reminded them that I had already mentioned to the hostess I wanted a regular table - I felt bad, but they were nice about it and took me to a regular table.

I have turned down those crazy high stools before at Raglan and other places that have them, too, they are simply not comfortable. I just want a normal table, it's all I really ask for LOL.

Though I also don't like it when a place is nearly empty with lots of room and they sit you right on top of the other couple of people in there, ironically this happened too, at Jiko, once, and I didn't say anything but regretted it afterward because it was the kind of seating where you all share the same "back" - it's a cushion wall and the tables are all next to each other, so I was so close to the couple, who were on a date next to me, I had to hear their entire conversation, when again, the restaurant was like maybe 30% full. The next time, I would speak up, as I really don't like to be THAT close to a party. I would rather wait, even, for a better seat. As I've gotten older, I've learned to not be afraid to ask for what I want at restaurants now, again, I would never make an unreasonable request but I'm not going to be super uncomfortable either, not for these prices, for sure, and I always give a generous tip (not that one had to expect comfort, of course), but I just always do show my appreciation, I mean, for a good table and good service.

But like 95% of the time, I am pretty happy wherever they seat me.

I don’t think we’ve ever asked to be moved once we’ve seen our table, but there are a few locations where we make a request at check in and mention we’re willing to wait.

San Angel Inn by the water, though we make a reservation at lunch time right at opening so it’s an easy request to get.

Biergarten near the band, ground floor or second floor.

That is exactly what we try to avoid - so we do speak up right away. We have also, in the past, not said anything and regretted it afterwards as well. There are a few restaurants at Disney that have this type of seating and we now know to make the request. We also feel, like you, 95% of the time everything is great.

You must have long legs. :) :)

Average height. Longish legs, but short torso. :rotfl:

There must be a bar across the barstool to rest your feet though. Because while I love sitting there, I hate dangly legs. I need to rest my feet on something.

Only twice - once at BOG we requested to not be in the West Wing because we had our parents who had trouble the first time in there seeing the menu in the dark room. The next time was HDDR where I called dining and specifically asked to be Cat 3 so that we'd be upstairs. The first two times we went we were Cat 2 and placed in the back where my daughter couldn't see and I had trouble (I'm short.) They "upgraded" us when we got there and tried to seat us in those back row Cat 2 tables again and we had to get a manager over just so we could be downgraded again.

Only once, several years ago at Flying Fish. We were seated directly under an air conditioning vent and it was freezing cold.
I pitied the next party they sat there. Didn't look like they lasted very long there either. Hopefully they fixed the problem.

Depends both in WDW and at out. Not interested in seating next to the bathroom or service doors for staff; that will always cause me to ask for a different table. I prefer to sit along the room's perimeter if possible.
I have favorite seating preferences at certain WDW eateries: a window seat @ TD; outdoor patio @ Spice Table; outdoor seating at Boathouse. Any QVR table @ V+A.
That's about it.
