I feel lucky if mine last 2 -3 years. I'm always complaining about how often I have to replace them. I do just buy cheap ones from target/walmart because I'm just too afraid to spend a huge amount of money and still have to replace it in an few years. But my mom has an old Conair that she got from Target and its lasted for over 15 years. So who knows - maybe they used to be made better?
I actually posted this topic as a thread on the DIS once. I went through them like crazy. About 3 years ago, I bought a Drybar dryer, and it's been working great!
My old ugly orange Conair is still going strong and is at least 6 years old but I switched to a nicer hair dryer last year and it makes my hair feel softer and smoother.
I dry my hair almost every day and have very thick hair.
