Hi fellow Disney campers. I was wondering how often you all go to FW and WDW. Do you ever stay at any of the other resorts? This will be our 2nd year at FW. We loved it last year and wish we could go more than once a year but it takes us about 18-19 hours to get there, so once a year is all we can manage.

We go a week every 3 months, sometimes DH drives the camper down and leaves me because he has to work and flies in on weekends. This is our feable atempt to live there, darn kids having to go to school keeps getting in the way :rotfl:

Edited to add , we live in NJ and have driven down for a long weekend because we love the Fort!!! Should add we are young and crazy! DH drives alot for his job so the driving part does not bother him.

We try at for once a year for two weeks. Last year we were lucky and got to go twice for two weeks each time    This year however, I don't know if we will make it down for Halloween or not. Family health problems with DF. Our drive is over 20 hours.

wow! every three months...how lucky are you? Do you guys have annual passes..do you visit the parks during all you visits?

I also go a lot, and I mean a lot. We live about 8 hours away. I can make it in 6 if I'm not pulling the camper. In the past year we were there last March/April for 1 week, July for 3 weeks, Oct for 5 nights, Dec/Jan for 1 week, Feb for 5 nights and will be leaving tomorrow for 1 week. Come June/July we will be there for 51 nights. Hubby will leave me and 5 of the kids down there and will come back when he chooses. We bought a camper just to extend our trips and no, I have never tried another resort. Before we boght our camper we were staying in the cabins.

Auntie - we never go to the parks. I buy hopper passes and usually have them for 3 -4 years before we use them up. We go because the fort compares to no other campground we have ever gone to. Where else can you have that setting with tons of restaurants and not have to get into a car.

Oh, to be so lucky! I probably would not go to the park either, but the kids would not hear of it! We have annual passes so I do go about every other day, but only after 4:00 when it starts to cool off. I enjoy the campground too much to want to bother with the parks. The fort is like no other campground so I go there hoping the kids won't drive me crazy with going to the parks. Where else can you entertain 5 kids that are 10 and under for the summer. I would spend just as much money staying here at home. Rule the day they are all old enough to go into the parks without me! I would say in another 7 years, I should have it made :rotfl2: . FWCamper, how I envy you! :worship:

we were going about twice a year there (or at least once a year - staggered by a week or two so we could fit two trips in on our AP's) for about 5 years, but last year we took a huge break and we are hoping to recover financially enough (from a new house and a new baby) to go this fall or at the very least next spring.

FW is by far our favorite place to stay and other than staying with friends who live about 20 min from the front gates, we will continue to stay there. the only other times we stayed at an onsite resort other than FW was our first trip (before we had the camper) and one trip we took with other family members. (they did not want to camp) the only thing that could make me stay at another resort besides FW is if i got a killer discount on room rates. (and the same discount was not being offered on the campsites - which saddly seems to be the trend lately. Campsite discounts are hard to come by anymore it seems.)

by the way - it takes us about 16 hours (one way) by car as well, so i feel your pain on the travel time thing. That didn't hold us back from going more than once a year though, but then we all love a road trip. We are kind of like dogs, all you have to say is "car" and our tails all start wagging.

Mrs. Gus....that is so funny because i would love to go to the parks but my kids and DH don't want to!!

We're a 21 hour drive away. Next week will be our third visit to FW in 16 months. Prior to that we averaged once a year and stayed at other resorts. We've stayed at the Contemporary, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and off-site at the Grand Cypress (I think that's what it was called). None of them compare to FW in my opinion.

We've gone for two week stretches the past three Augusts, will be there the last two weeks of July this year (before our APs run out). We're so crazy for the campground, with the price of gas, we could stay at WL cheaper this year than what we're paying for our preferred site and gas, but DS10 loves his campground! It really does spoil you for any other campground...
