I was wondering how often you all get your roots done. I know the rate at which hair grow varies from person to person. It's expensive to get them done where I live, like $75, with no hair cut, highlights or blow dry...just roots. I noticed about a week ago that it looked like it was about time to go again. But, it wasn't until today, when I looked at my calendar, to see that I just had them done three weeks ago. Is three weeks normal? I used to be able to push my hair appointments to eight weeks, from the recommended six weeks. Is there something I can do to prolong my visits? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I was having that problem too. My color went from lasting about 6 weeks down to 3. My stylist started using a different formula for color resistant gray, plus I started using a salon shampoo for colored hair and that made a huge difference. Now I'm back to 6-8 weeks between coloring.

Mine costs about $55 for roots and includes cut and style. When I add highlights (which I do every other time I color) it's about $95.

Every 6 to 8 weeks i go to a salon for roots but halfway inbetween i use a root touch up kit from the drugstore. I only color the roots at the part. Actually i mix up only half of the kit so each kit is good for two touchups. This works because i am silver and going to blond so roots don't need lightening.

I have long, very dark hair. I have to go every 5 weeks to keep the illusion in tact! My gal only charges $65 for color, cut, shampoo/blow dry. Quite the deal!

I go every 4th Wednesday and it's $100. That's just color, no cut.

Root Rescue!!!! I noticed my roots strted to be done about every 3-4 weeks so I tried root rescue and it works great. In fact, I am going to start coloring all my hair at home now. Just getting way too expensive.

I do a home root color job every 3-4 weeks, then a salon full color and cut every 8-10 week for $120.

That's about how long I go between colorings, sometimes it's 6 weeks. Mine is the same price as well, and that includes the tip! :thumbsup2

I do mine every 4-5 weeks. Luckily, I have my cosmetology license so I get my supplies inexpensively. Costs maybe $30-$40 a year for everything. And good thing, if I had to pay a stylist, I would not be getting it done near as often!!!!

ETA: I do have a stylist cut my hair around the same day as I color. That costs me $20 with tip.

That's funny. I'm just about to head upstairs to do my roots. I do my own color about every 6 weeks, with a root touch-up every 3.

5 weeks and I am ready about 2 weeks before that!

That's how I am. I do use Roux 'Tween Time (it's a touch up stick) on my part and hairline to get my through till my standing 5 week appointment.

About every 6 weeks.

It is very easy to do at home (I did for years) and I think worth it at those prices:eek: I recently found a salon that does roots for 12 Euro and that is a screaming deal so for that price I get them done.

I get a cut and color (all over) every 6 to 8 weeks. Mine charges $65 for color, cut and style (plus tip).

Average is 4-6 weeks for color. Hair grows app. 1/2" a month.

I think some people's color fades worse than others but, in general, all hair that has much grey OR is lightened and has dark roots needs to be done more often.

I highlight mine every 2-3 months and apply semi permanent color in between to camouflage my grey roots. (I do the semi at home, myself because I'm a hairdresser)

Where do you find those?

I do an all over color every 8 weeks or so but end up needing a root touch up every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. The root touch-up tends to fade even though I use a shampoo for colored hair. I touched up my roots one year right before we left for WDW and forgot to bring my shampoo. The H2O shampoo that you get in the room stripped the color right out of my roots so I had to go to Target and get more root touch-up and color safe shampoo and do it there!

Every 5 weeks. I could get it done every 4 weeks but my hair style hides a lot of the gray for that extra week. :lmao:. My roots show not from fading but from regrowth of hair. The color on the rest of my hair is the same--and I would be ALL gray if I let it go. In the winter I get an all over color and highlights every other time but in the summer the sun keeps the highlights fresh so I can go several visits without touching up the highlights. My roots, cut, style is $75, $90 to do an all over, highlights, cut, color.

I would like to try some of those root touch up things but I need it all over my head so I don't know if that would work :lmao:.
