How often do you get your hair highlighted?

I just got my hair highlighted last month and already I can see the dark roots I guess my hair stylist just didn't color as close to the roots as she normally does...I just hate to pay to have it done again so soon....how often do you have to get your highlights redone?

I don't highlight, but I get my hair colored every 6 weeks. The roots are probably close to an inch long by that time.

When I used to do it, it would be every 4-6 weeks... then I started to have my mom just pull it through the cap, super easy and costs about $5 a time.

It is frustrating to spend that much for just a month or so, but it always looks so good!

Same as SeeDisney, about every 3 months. I have dark brown hair and I get lots of little microscopic pieces done and they also highlight with about 2-3 different colors. So, for me, the grow out is really not noticeable. One day, I'll just think "Wow, my hair is looking brown!"

Now, I have been to stylists who highlight bigger chunks of hair or they try to turn me into a blond. With that, I get definite roots and I don't like it.

So, are you trying to go all one color or are you having the chunky highlights put in?

About twice a year. I'm a natural blonde, though it's turned rather mousy with age. So, I go in for a slight brightening and lightening twice a year. My hairstylist highlights very fine pieces of hair in about 3 - 4 different shades. Even though it grows out, it isn't noticeable for about 5 months or so.

I go every 6 to 8 weeks. At 6 weeks the roots aren't too bad, but I can't go past 8 weeks. My natural hair has darkened the past few years and I get very light highlights. If I stayed closer to my natural color, I could probably go longer.

I gave up on getting my hair hightlighted. It has its own natural highlights. You cant beat a 50/50 gray white highlight. LOL.

I just got mine done last month & I also noticed yesterday I can start to see it growing out. She did tell I should come back every 5-6 weeks because she would only have to do the top. I try and go every 3 months.

Not as often as I should...I go about every three months.

My roots grown out makes my hair look dirty to me....kind of like it's greasy at the roots.

Same here.....I don't like that "dirty hair" look so I guess I'll just have to get mine done again sooner than later.

Every 3 months, my hair colorist says natural redheads luck out in the roots area because when the color starts to grow out the root still looks good.
