How Often Do You Eat Out?

When we're on the east coast, twice a week, usually sushi.

Los Angeles, almost every night, although I do cook occasionally or Grub Hub it. Never fast food though, I can't handle it.
Next time you're in SoCal, you should try Yoshinoya - it isn't the greatest sushi around, but it's not bad & reasonably priced. It's especially nice being able to get it as drive-thru.

We eat out maybe once a month for dinner. We order in a few times a month.

For the last six years we have taken a winter cruise. I sat down and calculated that if we went to dinner every Friday night and just one of us got a coffee every work day, that could fund our winter cruise. Well we don't go out every weekend and we make coffee at home, so Caribbean, here we come!

Only when we are traveling. I MUCH prefer to eat at home. It's cheaper, I love to cook and my food tastes better. I even prefer to cook some meals in a condo while on vacation (quick, easy ones then though.) I won't even buy a coffee out, I'd rather make my own at home.

Best wishes for a smooth sailing! :goodvibes

I am surprised by the answers.

Normally, I would say take-out 2 times a month, eating at a restaurant, once every 6 months.

This has recently changed as I have 2 children working at a Pizzeria, opposite hours and cooking was becoming a chore as no one would eat because of the coming and going. So they bring pizza and subs home more than I want to admit. Now I don't eat it most of the time, but the temptation is horrible.

I must admit, once my son goes back to college and our daughter starts her classes for her masters, I plan on cooking all the time again.

Don't you all get bloated and sick of eating out? It actually makes me ill after 2-3 time per week.

If i were eating subs and pizza a few times a week I'd feel gross and bloated as well. We probably average eating out a few times a week. For me that might consist of a latte and oatmeal from Starbucks for breakfast, a bowl of soup from the cafe at work for lunch and a sushi roll or salad with lean protein for dinner. Dh and dd will go more for bagels, subs/pizza and pasta but I don't eat that stuff. If you're careful you can eat out and still eat healthy.

At least once a week, because we are out and about on a weekend when it's a mealtime. Any actual shopping is 45 minutes away, so if we are shopping it's going to take some time. DH and I pack a lunch every workday, so he is not about to pack a lunch for running around on the weekend. If we haven't gone anywhere by Sunday night, we will often go out just for the sake of going out because DH wants to once a week.

Sit-down once a week, with an occasional extra thrown in. We order pizza about once every 2-3 weeks, and we do fast-food take-out every Friday night when we go to a friend's house for games. A fairly nice place maybe once a month.

We're in Austin, so I guess we're behind the power curve a little.

Before finding out I had Celiacs we were eating out no less than 3-4x a week. Now we are lucky if we go out once a week. It is mostly 1x every two weeks or so. I can make better tasting and healthier meals at home and much cheaper too lol

We used to eat out a couple times a week. Now that DH is on a very low sodium diet I pretty much cook all meals. He is still getting used to it. T

At the moment, he is in the hospital on massive amounts of Lasix. The low salt food is pretty tasteless. Today he asked me to smuggle in some fried shrimp. Um, no. I don't think so...

I did not word my post very well. The kids eat the pizza/subs they bring home. Since it was coming in the house I counted it. DH and I maybe have the pizza once a week, or one slice a week for me. My husband enjoys pizza more than I do. As I said, I get bloated, even eating out at sit-down restaurants. I will admit Sushi does not do this to me but I am the only person who eats it.

I still can't see us eating out like many do. My husband eats leftovers for lunch and loves it. At his work they eat out almost every day. He would rather heat up a home-cooked meal. I guess we just have a different lifestyle than others.

Also I guess we technically don't eat as healthy as we should as I still make meals that are high calorie/fat a few times a week. Even these meals take me down.

Patiently waiting until summer is over to get back on track.

Perhaps 1-2 times a month but only once is a sit down. We could never afford more than that. I have toast and coffee at home for breakfast and take my lunch with me.

Depends on what your eating. When I lived in the suburbs I hated eating out because all that was readily available was chain restaurants and mall food. Now that I'm back in the city, tons of great places to eat offering great fresh food. I can be as healthily or fat filled as I want. Lol.

Unfortunately, I'm eating out way too much, mainly because now that the kids are working or busy with their own social lives it's just so easy to grab a bite.

About 2x's a week some times 3

DH eats lunch out 5 days a week. I eat lunch out one day a week (I actually meet him for lunch). About half the weekends we go for a bike ride and get lunch one day.

Dinners are more hit and miss - once or twice a month, maybe. I think that once or twice a week he gets second breakfast at the office cafe, and at least one latte there every day.

To answer the "bloated and sick of eating out" question - nope! The office cafes are pretty healthy and the quality is at least as high as homemade food.

This is us too, minus the cruise!! But it does free up $$ for other things that we want to do/have.
