How often do they redo the Midship Detective Agency mysteries?

We cruised this past November on the Dream and my DD was OBSESSED with the Midship Detective game. We did all 3 that were available. We're thinking of booking again for late 2018/early 2019 on Dream again and I was wondering if they generally change up the cases or if they stay the same? Also, do they have the game on the Fantasy? And if so, are those cases the same as what is on the Dream? Thanks!!

There are the different themes (Muppets, 101 Dalmations) but also its not always the same character. I learned that the hard way when ODD lost her card before we finished I thought we could just go get a new card and con't with the few spots we hadn't done. But it wound up being different clues for a different culprit and we had to do the whole thing again.

As pp said, the mysteries offer variations but the games themselves are not changed. The mysteries are available on Fantasy and they are the same ones as on Dream.

They only "recently" added the third case (like 2 or 3 years ago? Anyone know for sure?) so it may be a while before they add another one. As people have said, you can repeat the case an it will have a different solution, but I understand that a completely new case would be preferable.

IIRC, the MDA was just Puppies and Paintings on the Dream when it launched. The Fantasy introduced Muppets when it launched, and the Muppets were eventually added to the Dream a few years back.

I really like the mysteries, too. I hope that soon they'll add mysteries with some different themes.

I actually didn't realize you could do the same case and get a different culprit. We did all 3 cases and ended up with the EXACT same culprit on 2 different cases...I guess that was just our bad luck! Good to know there's more than one solution!

Rumor has it these are also changed out for SWDAS cruises, too. Is it ONLY for SWD? Or is it for the entire cruise?

We were on a SWDAS last March and they were not different on SWD. My son would have noticed. He played every sea day.

It has been a few year since our last DCL cruise but my hubby and I are going adults only in April. Is this something two adults (who are fans of all things Disney) would enjoy just for a fun little thing during an at sea day or definitely better if you have kids?

Yes! I’ve done it by myself multiple times, with and without the kids. It’s a good way to see the ship, get your daily steps in, and even meet others.
