How often do the refillable mug designs change?

For instance, I got mugs in August with the Quick dining plan. We are going again in January. Will the mugs be different?

Maybe, maybe not. Refillable mugs are good for your length of stay for one trip, at one resort -- so it really doesn't matter how often they change the designs.

Lately there has been a new design for the past two years (based on WDW's current promotional slogan - this year it's what would you celebrate?) Whether they will have a new mug for 2010 and, if they do, when it will actually be available to guests is anyone's guess at this point.

Does to me! I really haven't cared for the last two designs. Wish they would go back to resort-specific. I know, I know...$$$. But a girl can dream.

I like the one I got when they first came out and were good for life. I can bring mine back every year. :yay::woohoo::cheer2:

If I remember right, they don't just change once per year. We went once in fall and once in winter and I remember the winter mug being full of winter designs. I love these mugs too! My dh can't get enough diet soda and I love the hot cocoa so it's well worth it for us!

I think that 'winter' mug that you mention was the YYAMD design and not really a winter mug at all. The colours were pale blues so a lot of people felt it was cold and wintery. The design before that was still the resort specific style and they were generally bright colours.

It's hard to say if they will change them again for 2010. The current red ones first came out in February.

I'm drinking iced coffee out of that blue and white mug right now...it really does look wintery, the little stars on the pale blue background look like snowflakes.

I thought the mug designs changed again this year, the one I have from May 2009 has the red background on top with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy, but the base is white. I've seen pictures of the most recent ones and they don't have the white base, just the red, and not designed to fit in a cup holder.

The red one that you are mentioning first came out in February on this year. Then shortly after they changed the style of the mug itself and extended the design right to the bottom. They do still fit in a cup holder, I use mine several times a week.

In January, odds are they'll still be clearing out this year's mugs. At least they were in 2008 when we were there, our mugs say 2007 on them!

I hope we get a new design when we go next year. I just like to collect them. It is a fun souvenir that serves a purpose while there. We also always keep a lookout for souvenir mugs in the parks so we can buy these. It became a fun way to collect inexpensive souvenirs and still get something to drink at the same time. Hardly use them at home, but love  the mugs!

I love collecting the mugs. It gives me a little bit of Disney everytime I use the mug at home!:thumbsup2 Does anyone have a picture of the current mug or can you direct me to a link with the current picture? I can't hardly wait to see it! Thanks!!!

Me and DW just got the latest red mugs last week, I must have 7 or 8 different designed mugs now, but when I go in the resorts to eat I always see people carrying the old mugs, even at Riverside I still see some of the old Dixie Landing mugs, I keep pointing them out to DW how many old mugs I still see people bring that we have at home, and they were one trip only mugs, I would really feel cheep (not that I am not) if I would bring an older style mug to the resort, I never see the CM's say anything to them, the CM were probably just told to let them go, rather then stir up a fuss. I use the old mugs all the time at home, driving to work and at work so I get my $12.99 worth out of it.

Curious to know when was this?

Our first trip staying on site was September 2001. As it was less than 2 weeks after 9/11, the parks and resorts were somewhat empty. There was no one in line behind us when we checked in at All Star Movies and probably because of that, the CM took a ton of extra time with us, making a big deal about our first on site stay and all the benefits, specifically mentioning the refillable mugs that could be purchased this trip and then used again when we came back to stay at that resort again. When we went to the food court to purchase the mugs, the CM there enthusiastically reminded us that we could use them again on our next stay at any of the All Stars, not just Movies, because they were sister resorts, but if we stayed somewhere else, we would have to buy new ones.

I've read on here that refillable for life was never the policy, it was only ever meant to be for that stay, it just wasn't clarified, but that was what I was told by Disney, that was the conditions under which I bought the mugs, I have no problem using them again at the All Stars. The one and only time since I have even stayed at the All Stars I asked at the front desk, explaining when I bought the first mugs and what I was told, and I was told yes, I could still use them. When I stay somewhere else, I buy a new mug every time, but should I ever go back to the All Stars, I'm bringing my old mugs!:thumbsup2

This past June they changed during our stay. We got one mug and by the time we left they had a new mug design out.
