How often do people get their room requests met?

We are going to the Poly for our honeymoon from Sep 29 - Oct 4. The only requests we have made (through our TA) is for Tokalau and a balcany. Our TA says to make sure we ask again at check in. I am just wondering what our chances are to get what we requested (I know nothing is guaranteed). I just really want this location!

We stayed at Pop over Christmas and pd preferred...now I don't know even what buildings that was supposed to be but our TA said it was worth it....our only request at that time was a non smoking room. When we checked in, I asked for a close room so he gave us 70s facing the main building and it was close but I don't know if I would have gotten that if I hadn't asked even tho I pd preferred...but then again we checked in at 3 am.

This time I am hoping we will be checked in by late afternoon.

Thanks,
Jes

I don't have any experience with Poly, so I can't help you there. As far as the resorts we have stayed in where we had requests (CBR, POR, Pop), we've gotten what we asked for all but one time--we requested connecting rooms with a king bed in one at Pop. Got the connecting, but didn't get the king bed.:confused3 We dealt with sleeping in separate beds--not much of a choice.

We've always had our request for a first floor room met at the Polynesian. One trip we requested Tokelau and got a room in that longhouse but on the third floor (but we no longer had a stroller so that worked out fine). This past trip, I got too specific and requested Fiji or Samoa, first or third floor and got first floor Rapa Nui. So my experience has been that the simpler your request, the more likely it can be met. If you definitely want a balcony and are not choosy about view or longhouse, then I would request "3rd floor room" since all of those have balconies. But if you really want to stay in Tokelau then I might drop the "balcony" part of your request because you might not get a room there if there are only first floor rooms available. The patios are nice, however. And even if you don't get assigned Tokelau, realize that all of the longhouses have their own advantages and disadvantages. We've stayed in most of them and have never had a bad time!

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon at the Polynesian! Don't forget to ask at check-in for the "Just Married" buttons (if they don't automatically give them to you).

Have a great time! ALOHA!:goodvibes

I think your TA is absolutely correct...mention the request again at check-in. I usually say something while they are looking up the room and phrase it kind of like this: "If you happen to have a room in Tokelu, maybe one that has a balcony, that would be wonderful." I have had several times where requests did not make it into the system for some reason, so mentioning it at check-in is your safety net.

Generally speaking, as long as they have what you request available, they will give it to you. Also, I find it is more likely for me to get my request when I check-in early (more of a pool to pull from) and at that point I will also let them know that I don't mind waiting for a room that meets my request (over taking one that is available at that moment).

Have a wonderful trip!

In all our trips to WDW, I've only not gotten my location request once. That was for a specific loop at the FT Wilderness Cabins. As it turned out though our loop was just fine, in fact it was a really good location so - no worries. I think Disney tries to work in out the best they can but it's not always possible. In all our trips we've only been upgraded (from garden to water view at the Poly) once also. Sometimes I think I'll probably never get one of those awesome room upgrades people talk about because I'm too specific with room requests. It might work against ya too, so I've tried to relax on that a bit now.

Good luck!

We've been lucky in that our requests are usually met. However, I make very general requests that are easier to meet. "Higher Floor", "Near elevator", "Balcony" etc. I am careful not to make too specific requests. I think they are more able to meet generic requests. I also have my requests listed in the order of importance to me, the most important is my first request.
Try not to be set on one specific building at the Poly. You don't want to be disappointed on your Honeymoon!!! Each building has something special going for it, and I think you will find you will be happy where ever you are.
Congratulations on your wedding and have a wonderful Honeymoon.
