How much would you pay for 15 more years of DVC

If you are the owner of DVC contracts that end in 2042, how much per point would you pay to extend those contracts to 2057?

Lucky owners of SSR and AKV feel free to add your two cents worth! How much was it worth to you to have the longer contract?

I paid $101/point a few months ago to add on at AKV, and while I thought it was certainly a lot more than I paid for my original 380, it was worth it to me. In all honesty though, I have to say I wasn't looking so much at the 15 years for me to use. I was thinking more in terms of value down the road a piece when my OKW contracts will have less than 25 years on them. I suspect my reslae on those will dwindle as time passes, while my AKV points will hold value longer because of the longer term left.

Hmm. Considering I'll be 85 in 2057--I don't think I'd pay for it. hehe.

It's a non-issue for me since I'm 57 now.

Wouldn't pay a dime to extend 2042 to 2057.

I'd be 113 years old when it expired.....

Hey TLinden16 , I heard Scotty and Ray were throwing you a surprise 86th Birthday , you may want to buy some of those extra points <G>

I won't extend either of my 2042 contracts (HH and BCV) because I don't want to have too many points that my children will have to handle. I did just buy 100 AKV points,a nd I will probably add another 100 to that sometime in the future, but all of my other points will be 2042s. One of the things I like about that date is that I can vacation for my entire lifetime, and my daughters will be 48 and 53 when they expire - old enough to have had their families and been able to take advantage of family trips of their own. They'll still have the AKV points but won't have to worry about keeping points at the oldest reorts.

I like the expiration cconcept - it's one of the reasons I chose DVC over other timeshare programs!!!!

I'd be 99 years old in 2057. I won't pay any more at all to extend my VWL or BWV contracts for another 15 years.

Zero, I will turn 83 in 2042, doubtful I will be going to WDW after that time.

I'm the youngest so far to check in - I'll be 62 in 2042 (technically 61 when DVC ends since my birthday isn't until October). Honestly, I don't know how much I'd be willing to pay to extend my contract - it'll all depend on WDW's popularity then, my enthusiasm for WDW, etc. I definately wouldn't pay whatever the going rate is at that time, but as to specifically how much I'd pay, I don't know.

Clear as mud?

Since I'd be 91 in 2042, it doesn't matter much to me. I am considering purchasing 150 more points in either AKV or a new DVC resort in about 3 years time. All of this will be passed on to my children, hopefully not too soon. :)

My suspicion is that the older resorts that expire in 2042 are going to be a bit tired. If the resorts in 2042 are as nice as they are today though, it'd be worth it to extend the duration on my bwv contract.

Today, I would very likely pay $30.00 per point to secure the use of our OKW points until 2057. I would definitely do it if the price was in the $20.00 per point range.

If we're still enjoying our DVC in 2042 I believe we'll need a bit of help getting around so we may have to reserve a grand villa to ensure we have enough room for our live in nurse(s). Makes me wonder if we can coordinate to have our Long Term Care benefits sent directly to DVC to pay our maintenance fees?:)

hmmm didn't realize that I was on the younger end of the scale around here! as my 90 year old grandfather and 83 year old grandmother still travel the world every year, I may need to extend my OKW and VWL contracts :rotfl: assuming that longevity and zest are hereditary

One of the "Lucky" SSR owners here. I vote for zero. If our contract ended in 2042, I doubt I would extend it for two reasons. First, I would be 83 and my wife 81. Although we bought SSR for the added years for our kids to enjoy, they would range in age from 48 to 56 and hopefully quite capable of buying their own. Second, by that time, the resort would surely need a major overhaul and most likely will be demolished to make room for a newer version. An old addage in marketing is "New sells, Old smells". Of course it may also depend on the economy and what other DVC resorts are around at that time.

I would pay zero for the additional years, for two reasons:

1--I have already paid for those pts once, and that's enough!
2--I will be 106 in 2057, so I don't think I would get much use out of the additional years.;)

LOL, I'll be 90 in 2057, so that extension does me no good, but my son might thank me if I did it! I figure I'll be done with it a bit before then though!

I do not think the issue is "will I be around to use it in 20xx?". Instead... I would look at it as "what will my membership be worth when I want to sell it with and without the extension.

Clearly... if we do nothing... eventually our DVC memberships will be worth zero, and over the last 10-20 years it will probably start decreasing in value very rapidly. Reversing that depreciation might be a good financial move.

My decision would also be based on DVC's stated policy. If it was a limited time offer, I would be more likely to extend than if it was a permanent program.

Assuming that it was a permanent program... another action that would encourage me to extend is if the "extension cost" was non-linear... namely... if the extension would cost less (per year) the earlier the extension was performed.

I have 400 pts and would like 200 more so my kids will have 300 each. Think that is sufficiant to pass down to them :thumbsup2

Both kids will be in there late 50's by the time the contract expires so they should be ready for new things to come there way at that time.

Want to by DL DVC pts so hoping they will make Grandcalifornian a DVC then we will purchase more at that time...
