How much will ME be in Dec?

So, if I am remembering correctly, DME started May '05 and WDW said it would be "free" for 18 months. I am now looking into renting a car for Dec '06, and OMG!! the prices are SOO high. I thought, "Well, I'll just take ME." But, then I remembered that ME would not be free then, either.

Has anyone heard when ME will be charging, and if so...how much?
