How much will it cost to cancel the trip?

I have been selected for jury duty for the months of July and August. So it looks like my trip is off. I already put down $200. Just wondering if anyone knew what kind of cancellation fees there are. I also booked the flight through Disney. They are refundable tickets.

Have you actually been called for jury duty? You shouldn't assume that just because you are on the list that you will actually serve.

But, don't cancel your trip, just reschedule it! You shouldn't loose your deposit or anything. By rescheduling it you can at least minimize the loss.

There should be something on the paperwork where you can request to reschedule because of a committment. No reason you have to lose money because of jury duty.

To clarify: you should be able to change your date for jury duty. They allow this one time usually. You already have it scheduled. They may ask for proof but not always.

holy cow! don't cancel vacation for jury duty.wouldn't that be "unnecessary hardship" or soemthing? ugh

Call the phone number or write to the address on your JD card...explain that you have a prepaid trip that will result in a $200 canellation penalty during the time you have been notified for, and that you are requesting an extension. I have not had anyone I know to have ever been denied the extension. Wow, no way would I take a hit like that over jury duty...I serve when called, but when I am able!

Yeah, I've been requested to go to Jury Duty a couple of times, but I can't afford it..even if they do give $40 a day...I have rent to pay. Honestly, I just tossed the notice...but I know the 3rd time, I have to go, or there will be trouble right here in River City. Go to WDW - you already have plans.

I was schuled for jury duty the day after thanksgiving this past year. We were traveling and weren't going to be home, so I wrote to the place and asked to be deferred to another time. They did.

(I go deferred to January, right near DH's birthday, but luckily wasn't needed.)

I'd check into getting out of jury duty before canceling your trip, if you haven't already.

No don't cancel!

This came up once when I had a cruise booked. My aunt worked at the courthouse and told me who to get in touch with. I took in (or mailed) can't remember a copy of the receipt that showed an intinerary and where I had made payment. They just took me off the list. It was really easy.

It doesn't seem fair that your vacation is disrupted.

Dont cancel!! There should be something on the card that says you cannot make it. You can cancel jury duty one time. (Here in MA anyway)

They sent me a jury duty card a couple of years back to go on July 3.
We were going away so I sent back saying that I couldn't make it due to previous commitment. They sent another one back about 6 months later for me to go to instead.

FYI, Disney cancellation policy is:
you can get your $200 deposit back up until 45 days prior to trip (when your balance is then due)
45-7 days $100 deposit is taken
within 7 days $200 deposit

not sure about the air policy
