We just came home from VWL. After making the 6th trip in 14 months, we kind of watched out how we spend the $$ during this trip. Disney can be very expensive, especially after this many trips in a little over a year.

I tried to put all charges on my room key so that I know better how much I spent on this trip.

When I got my bill, I was still a little surprised how much we spent. I had the feeling that I am still on the low side (or hoping to make me feel a little better).

Just curious.

However, this poll is for all charges in a day (average, whether on the room bill or not, assuming using POINTS for the stay) and EXCLUDING park passes, for your group, NOT per person.

Not including our annual passes, and of course staying on points...

For two adults we usually average $125 to $150 per day.

We generally have at least one table service in-park meal, usually have breakfast in the room, occasionally have breakfast at Olivia's, usually have counter service dinner, but ocasionally a table service dinner or off-site. Depending on whether the merchandise "catches our eye" there may be a lot of impulse buys. But, usually nothing too extravagant (there are times :) )

We keep our room charges low but our costs are paid for elsewhere - groceries at Publix or Winn-Dixie, AP's paid for on direct c/c not via room charge and Breakfast and one other meal in the room

Yes, Disney can get very expensive very fast if you let it

thanks

Did you mean PER PERSON? I assumed you did.

We usually end up paying $2000-2500 for the trip for SEVEN of us. That's quite a bit less than $100 PP per day.

This trip will probably be more, though, cause we're eating out more with 4 "Disney" adults and 3 kids which adds up quickly with the $20-$30pp tabs at so many of the restaurants.

And I've gotten into PINs.

I edited this: this amount is NOT including park passes. That would add over $150 pp.

It gets very complicated what is included or not, however, I meant the whole bill, for the family or travelling group, not per person, just to make it simple.

Yes, the pins can get very expensive : )

Per group is not going to tell you much.

Average charges per day, excluding park passes, points and transportation, for our group are $130. This represents meals, shopping and recreation.

Jim,

Your definition is exactly what I meant. Per person is tricky depending on the age. Infants/toddlers incur little compared to teens or adults.

Our group of 6 averages about $200.00. Like JimC, this is just for meals, shopping and recreation, not park passes. Considering it used to be thousands more (two connecting Polynesian rooms during school vacations), we are very pleased.

I think the wording may have confused me. You said the check out bill, and I took that literally. We always have a check out bill of $0. All phone calls are done on cell or are local, and Internet is done from an 800#. We don't charge meals etc. to the room, but to a credit card.

We eat two meals out everyday, one is a gormet meal, plus we buy things everyday charging them to the room, so, it is averages abput $300 to$400 a day unless we do Christmas shopping down there and it goes higher then. The bill gets higher when we have guests, but there is usually only 2 of us now.

Only 2 of us, so I've got to go with less than $100 per day.

We stay down there for 2 weeks at a time and there is NO WAY I WANT to eat out every day, so we make great use of our micro and fridge in the studio and then if we are in the park we may stop for a salad at lunchtime. We DO usually go to a nice restaurant or do a show maybe 2 or 3 times while we are down there and dh makes it a MUST to eat at the Olive Garden once, while there. I do some gift shopping for my nieces and nephew, but even that only comes in at a little bit over $100.

I think I may be a Disney cheapskate!

I'd say we are usually about $125 a day. We will eat out at least once a day for a sit-down meal. We'll do breakfast in the room, usually a sit-down dinner and something quick for lunch. We collect pins so that gets added in as well as CD's, DVD's, scrapbook supplies. It all adds up. We charge it all back to the room, which goes on our cc bill, but gets paid off each month. The money is already set aside for our upcoming trip. The room charges just make it easier for us not to have to carry too much cash.

I'm finding that the more often we go, the less we spend. Now I'm seeing that we're in line with a lot of others. About $130 for 2 adults and a 10 y/o. Don't do a lot of souvinear shopping and we've started cutting way back on the attraction photos. One big meal a day seems to be working out fine. If I could keep it to under $1000 for 9 days I would be happy!!

so far, at the lowest bracket, i am with the majority. I agree with goofy4tink, we spent less at Disney after going multiple times like some others here too.

However, we started buying pins, photos, and various disney merchandise, and cutting out eating at fancy places.

DH and I spent 6 days and 5 nights at BCV in mid-February. Our total expenses excluding AP's and airfare were $415. That includes everything----car service to and from airport, stop at grocery, all WDW purchases. Sometimes it's a little higher if we add in a show like Cirque but that's a pretty typical expense report for the two of us.

There are five of us in our family and we normally spend, on average, in the neighborhood of $150 - $175 per day. That includes groceries, souveneirs, dining out, etc. We could do it a lot cheaper but choose not to. I see people who spend a whole lot more and a whole lot less, to each his own I guess.

My group of 4 (3 children, 10, 7, & 6yo) plus DH for 3 days of our 2 week trip average about $150-175 per day. We eat breakfast in the room, except for a couple of breakfast splurges, a quick lunch, and dinner out. Souvenirs have reduced some, but I've resorted to awarding kids "disney money" for several weeks ahead of time, and that worked out great last trip. They had to decide what to spend their money on and once it was gone, no more "junk"! So really all I have to worry about on my end is food and recreation.

Jeez, I guess I am a cheapskate. ;) It is me and 4 children. One is now priced as an adult. I am not including AP's. Those for just me and the boys just priced out at 1,453. (Gasp, Gasp, choke, choke....)
We average on a regular day about 125 dollars. $25 dollars goes in my dd17's pocket, For her own water, Icees, whatever. And her counter service lunch. That way she is not bugging me every 2 seconds. Ds 9, gets 10 for icees, waters etc...I am usually with him at lunch. so I get that. But when we do lunch unless I have a PS. It is counter service 3 boys get kids meals and mom does as well... by choice. So its around $30 dollars. If you then add popcorns, drinks, ice cream which I admit I never say no to...I usually come back with money in my pocket at the end of the day. AT DVC my kids eat Breakfast in the room. On the weekends breakfast at AKL's club lounge. I am not a big eater so my PS are always the same..Sci Fi about $60 lunch for all of us. Chef Mickeys about $100 for all. But if I have a PS generally the kids will eat at the villa the other meal that day. So It averages out.
Trinkets? My DH's family hates Disney, And thinks the kids should only go once. Give them Disney money for every occasion so they each always have $50 each to spend. I guess I should also add I rarely charge at Disney ;) I do the envelope method just like my parents did when I was a child. Each days money is in an envelope and marked with the day. If I have a PS that day, That extra money to cover that is in the envelope. I leave them in the safe and take them out one at a time.

We eat most breakfasts in our room, otherwise we eat out, and never at a fast-food restaurant(I can do that at home), so we are eating VERY well on $100-$199 per day for 4 adults, including drinks. I am very mellow while at WDW:teeth: I'm a teacher in a small town, so I don't usually drink at home, especially in public.:teacher:

Rather than doing things per group maybe you should have asked people to ignore toddlers. Even if they don't eat much people do buy clothes and what not for them. So the average for everyone holding a ticket in the group. I think the clothes shopping/souvenier shopping, junk food scarfing, toy breaking behaviour of the kids will offset the fact that sit down meals are cheaper for them.

I'm a group of one so I'm under $100. In fact I suspect for most trips I'm under $50 even if I go to a show. $50 a day is what I would budget anyway. That's a lot of money if you aren't paying for anything except food and drinks...I can't drink alcohol everyday so that helps. I don't do restaurant service every day either...you lose a lot of time that way. It's a mix of eating in the room, counter service and sit down restaurants but gradually becoming just eating in and counter service.
