How much walking is there REALLY?

I realize you are going in the fall, and I don't know the climate that you are generally used to, but on top of the walking, it is hot in Florida compared to where we are from (Philadelphia, PA).

.
we were in WDW last October and the daily high temperature was 90-95 every day with corresponding humidity. It was absolutely miserable. We go every October and the temps are usually on the high side of warmish during the day. I wouldn't count on 'cool weather' in Florida.

I am leaving for the world in 3 days! WOOHOO! I started going to the gym in April in prep for this trip. I was so tired last year when I went that I was determined to be in better shape for all the walking. Once I started, my workouts kinda snowballed. I have lost 25 lbs., built muscles and reduced my BMI! I can't wait to go next week and take a picture in front of the castle to compare to last year! I have been walking an average of 7 miles a day, 5 days a week, so I hope that I will have no issues this year!

Congrats!!!

We're heading into the World next month. I haven't been since '84--and that was a whirlwind MK visit--and DW hasn't been at all. I keep reading horror stories about having to walk your feet off in the parks. This puzzles me. I've checked the acreage online and each of the parks compares in area to my home amusement park (Canada's Wonderland)...somewhere between 300-400 acres. That doesn't strike me as a whole heck of a lot of walking...two, maybe three miles a day? What am I missing?

I've been to Canada's Wonderland and I just got back from WDW and you absolutely cannot compare CW to WDW. You could probably place a few Wonderlands inside MK at Disney and still have room to spare. As for the walking, yes, there will be lots of it but it's not constant continuous walking all the time. There are a lot of stops along the way.

A couple of trips I wore a pedometer and walked a low of 3 miles and a high of 7 miles each day.

The walking is not the problem. Its when you stop walking and have to stand and wait. You might walk 5-7 miles per day but that is typically spread out over 8 or more hours and most of the walking will be done in chunks when going from one attraction to another. Walking between attractions is the easy part, its the standing in line that starts to make my feet hurt.

At one point while DW took the kids to Philharmagic I walked from there to BTMRR to get FP and back with no problem. Later on when waiting for the electric parade that was just uncomfortable to be standing and waiting without moving.
