...for 12 people? I have a nice little bird in my freezer but my dinner party just grew from 5 to 12  people and that nice little bird ain't gonna cut it! Any sidedish recipe ideas that are quick and easy and don't require the use of my oven? I do have a slow cooker at my disposal. By the way, in case you couldn't tell, this is the first time I've hosting a big meal like this and i'm kinda freakin out. Any experienced moms in Calgary wanna come and help me out?

How about a Maple Leaf ham. You know the small ones in Loblaws that have no bone? You can serve it cold as it is pre-cooked and a small one can easily serve 6 people.
Good luck to you!

Go to superstore and buy a 20-25 pound utility(they are usually missing a wing or leg. If the breast skin is a bit tore cover with foil.) turkey. The regular ones will sink you $$$$. If you need stuffing/gravy recipie I have one of those too.

Superstore, gotcha! We went to Co-op and Safeway on Tuesday and all they had left were teeny tiny things and Butterballs. I don't feel right eating something called a Butterball! And a stuffing recipe? Isn't it 1) Open box of Stove Top, 2) Open another box of Stove Top .... hehehe! Thanks!

This is our menu:

Turkey
stuffing
mashed potatoes and gravy
broccoli and cauliflower with cheese sauce
sweet potato pie
whole cranberry sauce
buns
assorted pickles

pumpkin pie with whip cream
apple pie with vanilla ice cream

LOL :lmao: sure whatever works for you!

If you're looking to save some time, you can make mashed potatoes a day in advance - and then use your slow cooker to reheat. Or, you can do your veggies in the slow cooker too... Not sure if that will help you with space!!

I love making Swedish potatoes, (mashed potatoes with garlic and sour cream and some cream cheese) you make that a day ahead and then you can reheat in the oven. It saves time rushing around and mashing them when you have enough last minute things to do.
If anyone is looking for a stuffing recipe I would love to share, mine has roasted red pepper and apples and caramelized onions in it with bacon. I serve it every year and get rave reviews I cater a church christmas dinner and it was a hit there too. (sorry to toot my own horn.. but it is good!)

I make my sqaush the day before and get all the veggies cut and prepped and ready to go. We make this secret family recipie potatoe dish that tastes much better if its sat and let the flavours "co-mingal" so Im making that tonight.. Also pre-set your table early that will save you some time too.
We also use a cooler for drinks when we have that many people. Usually has water and pop and beer in it.. makes hosting a tad bit easier.
