Now I realize that this will vary a lot place to place but Im just trying to get an idea.

We have a college kid coming to "house sit" while we are away for a couple of weeks this summer. The only responsibility would be letting the dog in and out whenever theyre around and feeding the 2 cats and dog.
I dont expect them to clean up or anything else (other their own mess)

So what would expect to pay someone to do that for you? They will be going about their normal every day life just based from here instead of their house.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was thinking about paying $150 for the week but have no idea if that's too high, too low, or just right.

I have a friend with two sons who take turns dogsitting for us when we're gone. They're actually past college age now but they still fight over who gets to come stay even though they have their own homes. :rotfl:

I pay $25 per day and then I always give them a $25 bonus because they do such a great job.

This might not be apples to apples but here's what we do.

Our dogsitter stays from 7 pm - 8 am at the house. They also visit twice during the day to let the dogs out and spend time with them. (They can't stay up that long alone.) The overnight fee is $65 with each additional visit at $15 so it's almost $100 a day. This was the least expensive option with someone I trust, we interviewed several individuals and companies. Some were up to $150 a night!!!

Insane IMO, but we don't have anyone else to stay at the house with them. :(

I also have a college person come in and house sit. we were gone for 12 days and I paid him 200.00 and made sure the frig was full and anything else he needed. He came and went as normal. My dogs dont need to be walked, I have a dog door so they go out when ever. Hope this helps. The companys that are professional do charge quite a bit. Thats why I try to get some one who would like to make some easy money. They are very responsible. JO

My youngest dog sat for the neighbor and was paid $25 a day and they also brought her a nice gift back from their vacation. She was very happy with this amount.

That must be one smart dog! and well paid too.:lmao:;)

I wish I could get a house/dog sitter for over night. Right now we hire a petsitter that comes 3 times a day - she gets $60 a day.

Professional pet/house sitters charge more because they have overhead that they have to pay for.

I would think $20/$25 a day for a non-professional would be good.

Our niece house sat for us for 3 nights and we paid her $50, plus food (though I don't think she ate much). She wasn't here all that much and only spent one night.
