How much to pay a pet sitter?

We have a teen driving over every other day to get the mail, feed/water the cats (2), and scoop the litter. Also play, cuddle with them if they have time to watch TV and let the cats get comfy. What would you pay per day?

When we lived in FL we hired a professional pet sitter and for our 2 cats she charged $15 for a half hour. We had her come every other day to change litter, refill water and food bowls. Sometimes my cats would come out to play but mostly she never saw them.

If she's driving over I'd say ten dollars a trip. If she was walking over I'd say $5.

We pay $15/day for teen to let out dogs and feed them twice per day. Fenced yard, so pretty easy. Also, she grabs the mail. Lives in the neighborhood.

I would pay her $10 for the daily visit and then give her enough gas money to cover the trips to your house.

My neighbor will watch my cats and chickens with drive time, we will be gone 21 days. I pay her $250 plus she will keep all the eggs and any food that will go bad from the fridge (ie milk cold cuts etc) if it was left there. She can also pick the veggies from the garden and keep them. She spoils the cats rotten too.

I also always brought home a small gift for her.

When she grew up and moved away, my adult neighbor started doing the same minus the 30 mins for hanging out, but she would come in the morning and open the patio door for them and close it in the evening.

I would give her a $50 grocery store GC and a bouquet of flowers from the cats

We have a college kid that is going to stay at our house. We are paying $20 a day. This is more because we don't want the house left empty.

Wow, you got off cheap. I board both my dogs at the groomers, so have to pay that boarding fee, and then I have a macaw parrot she refuses to keep. I pay my next door neighbor's son (about 12 y/o) $100.00 for the week, (plus bring him back something from WDW), to run over twice a day to just make sure my parrot has food and water. He fills the dishes from outside the cage. Fearing he would not be able to get the bird back in the cage if Jonah ever gets out, I tell him not to touch the big door of his cage. He's in the house less than five minutes, just long enough to open the small side doors and refill the dishes there with food and water. I also always make a big batch of cookies and leave for him to take back home for him and his little brother (his mother is not a baker and the boys love homemade cookies). lol

The dogs have to be boarded at the groomers, because my big dog (an akita) would never let anyone in the house if we are not there. It costs me about $400.00 to have two dogs (an akita and a shih tzu), plus the parrot taken care of for the week.

I would say $10-15 per visit is accurate. When we go on holiday our cat goes to a 'cat hotel' which is absolutely fantastic and they charge £6 per day. I would also say giving gas money if he/she is driving to you would also be fair!

We give our 12yo neighbor $10 day to walk and feed our dog 2 times a day.

I pay my pet sitter (teenage neighbor) $25/day, 2 cats/2 dogs. This involves 2 1/2 hour 'visits' each day and any food in the house. I have always known the sitters really well, and they know they are welcome to stay and watch tv, so I know their visits go much longer, but 30 minutes minimum expected.

sometimes I shudder at the extra cost of having dogs..... but,what can I do? I pay a teen neighboe 10 per day tp come and feed them once, let them out,and she likes to play with them randomly,so it's all awesome. ANd one of my dogs is rotten that no one else can watch her, but the teen neighbor.

$150 for a 9-10 day stay at the house. We have used older high school or college student that we know very well. We like having someone here to be with our animals and so the house looks "lived in". Dogs and cats get fed and the litter boxes get cleaned...and the animals get lots of attention. We fill the fridge and freezer with lots of junk food to eat. They enjoy having their own space for the week and we can relax knowing that everything at home is being taken care of.

My daughters friend lives on our street. She comes in the morning to let dog out and feed her and back in the evening to let the dog back in. I gave her 40 for six days this last time.

I believe we pay $15 for an every other day visit from the pet sitter for our cats.

Our dogs go into boarding, which they regard as their own vacation. But it is spendy. I have to budget $500 total for all pets when we go to WDW, and most of that is the dogs.

I long for the days when my goddaughter was young and footloose. I'd stock the fridge with her favorites and tell her to use the computers, use the TV, eat everything she wanted and make herself at home for a week. Then I'd come back and spend some money on her; we were all happy!
