I'm sure this has been asked many times but.........

Our DD is 5 1/2 and just starting to recieve pocket money each Saturday.
She is learning to pay for things in shops and has a money box adn bank account etc.

How much do you think we should give her to spend each day at Disney?

Up to now we have always given her some cash at Disney if there is something she really wanted or I have seen caught her eye and then we have surprised her with it.

I'm not sure to just split up the money she has saved equally or give her like $10 a day.

your thoughts please........
Thank you
Sarah

We gave our 9 year old grandaughters 20 dollars a day in an envelope, they could spend it daily or save for something more expensive.
We bought them more of course as grandparents do T shirts , mickey's, ice creams and sweeties.

Great fun.

When I went on holiday as a child my mum would give me £10 a day to spend on souveniers or sweets and if I wanted something more expensive I would have to carry money forward.

:yay:

Well my boys are saving their pocket money, which they have to earn by good behaviour, not too much TV etc., for our upcoming trip. They are also keen to do extra jobs such as cleaning shoes, going to the shop, loading the dishwasher, usually at 10p a shot! They already have some saved up, so they are hoping to take about £40 each with them. This will be for them to spend on what they want. We will buy ice-creams, drinks, the odd packet of sweets for them. They are 8 and 5.

Sounds like a great plan :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your advice and experience.
I have drawn her up a reward chart for doing her reading, spelling, maths from school and for doing any extra chores around the house for me.
I had some disney stickers left from scrap booking our last trip and so have disneyfied it.

thanks again

we gave my 7 year old $10 a day he spent it on pins he did get abit more if he needed it.

My DD is quite good at saving and has been saving for the last 12 months, she had some money for her birthday and again at christmas and we have changed it up and are going to split it over the 14 days, some days she probably won't spend it all but then will have a bit extra for something else.

Hi

We normally take around £60-80 for her to spend on what she wants i.e we dont think its worth anything so we dont want to buy it for her. We buy her stuff as well.We tend to buy the expensive ones and she can get herself some bits.

My DD's then aged 7 & 9 asked for dollars for their Birthdays before we went. This amounted to would you believe $200 (we have a large family!) The girls knew they had this money to spend but instead of going mad they really waited until they saw what they really wanted. We then had a chart for both of them starting at $200 and each time they spent something we knocked the value off. It stopped them asking us all the time for souvenirs as they knew their budget, admittedly a big one. Oldest DD actually only spent about half of hers and we had to give her pounds when she got home!

Hi

We are going in March and our DS9 and DS11 have been saving their pocket money. We encourage them to have regular clear out of clothes and toys, and then sell anything in good condition on e-bay giving them the money that is made (it certainly encourages them to have a clearout!) So far one of our sons has £100 and the other £150. (ones a much better saver!). They also will be asking for dollars for the birthdays in March.

Our sons are aiming to stock up on Nintendo DS games as they are much cheaper in the US and then we will split the leftover money equally over the days we are there.

My parents gave my kids $150 each for their trip. My eldest 13 splurged his nearly straight away on really cheap trainers (What he wanted) and clothes at the Beltz/prime outlets. Had around $20 dollars left which he bought little bits and peices. My other two were very careful with their money and my ten year old didnt spend a thing as there was a couple of pc games he wanted to buy when he came back. I actually bought him a couple of things on the quiet to give when we came back so that he would actually have something to keep from WDW.

We bought them separate wallets and get their own money in their own wallet, we warned them that when it was gone it was gone. They did really well. We did buy them a few things too and bought all drinks, sweets etc.
