The question with no real answer. How much will we need to spend on food?

I am planning one sit-down mean each day, probably character meals. Other than that, we will eat breakfast at the resort, and lunch and dinner will be counter service.

We are a family of two adults, one 4-yo ds and one ds who will be just under 2. I know the youngest ds will eat free at the buffets and character meals. I don't have too big of an appetite, if I can order kids meals, that would be fine, except I want to eat more than hot dogs and chicken nuggets on the trip. I'm thinking I'll allow $140 a day for food, should that be enough? That's $55-70 for each character meal (I'm allowing those prices based on the menus on allearsnet and in the Unofficial guide), which still leaves $70 for 2 counter service meals and snacks. Also thinking that if we eat a big breakfast, such as a buffet, we'll only need a lighter lunch? We will be bringing water bottles, hope they allow that. Also, I will probably share a drink with one of the boys because I never finish half my drink at a restaurant anyway.

I have plenty of time to plan and save, do you think $140 is enough each day?

Thanks, Steph--Doing this without DH help, just his wallet

$140.00 sounds about right.

We use to plan $150.00 a day since we also like a sit down meal each day. Some days you will spend more and some days you will spend less.

We now plan $200.00 a day since both DD's 18 & 11 are old enough that like to try some of the more expensive meals. I should never have let them try shrimp, they love it....

Hi...there are5 of us going in June....for 4 days.....me, my DW, our 2 DD's and a DDF........all adults...the girls are 21,18 and 18,
I have ressies for the Aloha Luau, CRT, Prime Time Cafe.........
the rest of the time we will be eating breakfast at the resort restuarant (POR), and the girls will be eating counter top food..
I have budgeted $1250.00 for us.....thats an average of about $60.00 a day for each of us.

I think your best bet is to check the menus over at AllEarsNet and run through a few days. Remember tax and tip. Also, alcohol if you drink it. And snacks if you are a snack person.
