hey all, i need a little budgeting advice. on the 18th im taking a bday trip to disney world, but im only staying for a day since thats all i can afford lol

but i cant figure out how much $ i need to bring to spend at disney. im leaving on the 18th from sarasota, fl and driving up to disney, which is 120 miles so i know i need gas money for that..then were getting to the csr at around 6 so we'll be eating dinner there/snacks
and the next day were going to mk and i have no clue what i might need for that.

do you think 200 would cover it for the day? or should i bring more to be safe?

tia!

Is the $200 also going to include food? If so for how many people? Counter service or sit-down? Do you want to buy a lot of souvineers?

DH and I love sit down restaurants, and love to shop, so we'd need more money that someone that wants to eat counter service and is happy with a pair of Mickey Ears and an antena topper!

If you're looking to budget food, I usually follow this rule of thumb;

Breakfast, $8 per adult $6 per kid for counter service. $15 per adult and $10 per kid sit down.

Lunch and Dinner, $10 per adult and $8 per kid counter service. $20 per adult and $15 per kid sit down.

My sit down prices are for an entree and soft drink. Apitizers, deserts, and alcohol will increase those prices.

As for souvineers, that is a personal decision as to how much you feel you want to spend. Just remember that Disney stuff tends to be more expensive rather than less. A tee shirt that should be $10 is usually $15 or even $20, for example. So take that into account when planning your spending money.

Good luck, and have a GREAT time!

yeah, itll be including food, but just for me. the trip is just me and the bf and hes paying for himself but im still not sure since its disney if 200 would cover gas money, food, and souvenirs for a day lol

We usually budget around $60 a day for a trip to cover food and trinkets. If I were only going for one day, I'd probably budget a little more than that, but it depends on the kinds of things that tempt you. The cost of your park ticket is $60 plus tax.
A budget of $60 will allow you two quick service meals, and one nice sit down meal somewhere (though they can be more expensive), plus either a few trinkets or a few snacks. I'd look into reservations now if you want to have a chance of a sit down meal somewhere. When you call, the CM will be able to give you the cost of the meal. If nothing is available in the parks, consider a lunch or dinner at one of the monorail hotels (GF, Poly, Contemporary, or maybe even WL - but it will take longer to get there). You should be able to get breakfast at CSR for around $10 a person. If you want to save a little - share. Have one person order a complete breakfast (around $7.50), and the next gets eggs ($3.50, I think) a la carte. The restaurant at CSR also charges a 10% tip plus taxes. If you want to save on OJ, buy a half gallon at the gift shop for less than the cost of two OJ's at the restaurant. If you drink coffee, a refillable mug might be worth it - you can only refill it at the restaurant at CSR - but at $3.50 per coffee, you'd only have to fill it 4 times to cover the $11.99 price, and start saving. (Think of using it both on the 19th and the 20th) The only trouble is that, most likely, you won't want to carry it around with you all day. I'd also bring a little bottled water with you.

In short, I think a budget of $200 is very doable, if your gas will be under $40 - to cover food, ticket, gas, a few small trinkets. One of the cheaper places to buy gas that we saw was actually the Hess station on Disney property.

Large hot dog is $4.50
Water is usually $2.50
Mickey ice creams $2.50

Experience at WDW - priceless!
