Since I have not been to WDW since I was 16 yrs old, and DH has not been since he was 11-we are having some difficulty deciding how much money to bring.

When we vacation we generally like to bring half of our spending $ as cash and half in travelers checks. We try to avoid using the credit cards.

We will be staying at the CBR for 7 nights...just the two of us. Can you give me an idea of what my food budget should be? We do have one special anniversary dinner planned at the California Grille-but other than that we will be eating more moderately priced dinners. Also, we do not plan on eating "lunches"...rather having a bigger breakfast and maybe a snack during the day at the parks.

I have been thinking that $1000 for food/souvenirs would be about right. Since we have the FTP everything else is paid for.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

We usually budget about $100 per day for food and souvies per day. Some days it is less (sometimes alot less) and some days we spend more.

We generally try to budget $50 per person per day for food. This usually covers meals and snack/drinks in the parks. As for the souveniers, that budget is usually much larger. We love to collect Disney stuff. We have not been that much into pin trading, but the figurines and the sericels are our thing. We can easily spend a $100 a day per person on average. It all depends on what you can afford to spend. Mickey

I went with $100.00 for the 4 of us (kids ere 8 & 4), which came to $1500.00. Well on our last day I still had like $700.00 left over! We always ate breafast before we got to the park (usually McDonalds) then had a late lunch around 2 or 3. We then ate on the drive back to our vacation house (McDonalds, KFC, pizza etc.) In the parks we always ate counter service food (hamburgers, hotdogs etc). We found it fast and cheap, usually like $40.00. We did alot more drinking than eating because it was so hot. Brought our water bottles, and ocassionaly got soda or lemonade.

What I would do is go to Deb's Unofficial Guide (wdwig.com) and you can find all the MENU"S for all the restaurants throughout WDW and you could get an idea of the $$ of what you might be interested in eating. Every family is different. Hard to compare what I would spend with three teenagers per person. It helps to also figure out what restaurants or counter service might have what your family likes to eat.

For the two of you $100 a day should cover it for food (depending on where you eat it could be more or less- decide how much you want to spend on gifts and trinkets. I think your $1,000 budget is right on target - you will probably have some left over.

Hope yall have a magical trip.

Annette

By the way, we have stayed at the CBR three times, it is our favorite in the moderate catagory. My husband and two grown children still think it has the best pizza ever. We love the Port Royale Food Court - If you are there for seven days I would definitely buy the refillable mugs. You will probably be returning to your hotel alot and we really saved on drinks!!
