Leaving in less than 24 hours - help!! I want to tip mousekeeping daily, we will be staying at POFQ, how much is appropriate daily??? I have not the faintest clue! We are staying for 6 days, is $2 a day appropriate, or am I a miser? Let me know please!

I think $1 per person/per day is the norm.

Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We always leave 2 dollars a day. You can certainly leave more but I would say that is the minimum. We leave it every day, not all at the end because chances are you get a few different mousekeepers during your stay. I just leave the bills on top of the bed. It has always been picked up.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

If there are just two of us, I always feel cheap just leaving 2.00. So for the two of us we leave 3.00. If there are the 4 of us, we leave 5.00. If the room is really messy or for some reason the sheets need to be changed etc., my dh will leave 10.00.

If I am going solo, I will tip $2 per day.

If I am going with family, I tip $1 per person per day (usually $4 a day).

Our room on the last visit was absolutely spotless, and Mousekeeping left us lots of extra towels each day that I requested, and lots of towel animals. I left $5 a day, and it was just my DS14 and I. I figured, for the amount I was paying for the room, $5 wasn't a lot. Also, after reading the boards, I realized that we could have a different Mousekeeper every day - and didn't want to leave just one tip at the end like I did in previous trips.

THat being said, I have no idea why I tip at the world - I travel a lot - and have NEVER left a tip before. Guess it's just all that Disney magic and pixie dust!! pixiedust:

the norm for this board and the average person is very different. the norm for this board seems to be about 2 bucks per person per day. the norm for the average person is zero.

In places like Vegas I tip $4-5 a day, but that's because they clean the room. ;)

Not only at Disney, but at any hotel we leave $1.00 a person for daily housekeeping and we leave (in a separate envelope) an additional $1.00 per bed for evening turn-down service. Whatever you leave I'm sure will be appreciated. :goodvibes

$1-$2 per person in the room for housekeeping during the day and the same amount for turndown service.

We kind of base it on number of beds we are in/using.....Generally $3 a day for a standard room, $5 a day for a suite where we're using two full beds, a pull out of some kind, a kitchenette arrangement....basically more square footage of our mess ;)

I think it's correct that not many people do it elsewhere, but when you see how hard the (mostly) ladies work & know how (little) they make...that extra $ makes a big difference.:wizard:

We stay in Chicago quite a bit and tip the same amount.

Why do you even need to tip? Since the mousekeepers are salried. I've never tipped a hotel's housekeeping unless there is physically an envelope that the hotel provides. Then you know that thier job is a tipped based position when they provide that to you. You pay enough as it is for the hotel per night, your housekeeping is included in that charge. Think back to the 70's, did your parents ever tip hotel housekeeping? No.......
I don't think you have to worry about it at all, but if you want to do it, great!
Any amount would be fine!!!!

I think it may be more of a standard practice than what you think. We always tip for all of our hotel stays. My sister worked at a hotel at Cedar Point and she was tipped there.

Tipping your hotel housekeeper is standard in the United States. There's a good tipping & etiquette guide on Trip Advisor. They suggest $2-5 per night (more in a high end hotel).
