How much time do you spend at your Resort?

My hubby has to be constantly entertained, he is not the type to hang out at a pool, beach or relax on a patio unless there is a baseball game on and he can listen to it on his Walkman. My oldest daughter at 6 also has the same personality, although she loves to swim. They are both always "bored."

I think my youngest at 3 has more my personality, we can both sit around by the pool hugging on each other and be in heaven. (But, I do love those parks!)

I think our DVC trips will still be alot of the parks, swimming in the middle of the day. This is really about what we've always done even before DVC. Personally, I could hang out at the pool most of the day with the girls, but hubby would go insane. Plus, we do this most of the summer anyway at our neighborhood pool, just don't have a slide!

The only difference I think DVC will make is we might linger longer in the mornings, eating breakfast in the room and maybe not run around so much while at the parks themselves. Take more of our time since we'll know be going even more often than before.

I've said this before - My Dad is just like Clark Griswold from the Vacation movies. It has become a family joke. This is how I grew up. Very commando while touring WDW, all vacations anywhere we had to see EVERYTHING. I always have to stop myself cause that is how I was raised and I sometimes tend to follow in his footsteps.

We've been members since, I think, March 2002. Since we've stayed at HHI, VB and VWL, we've so far gone "commando" at each resort (especially since the trip to VWL was our 2 DS's first "taste" of WDW).

That said, we do plan to slow the pace down quite a bit in the future........ seeing only what we haven't seen before or what we want to see. We don't feel that, in the future, we'll "have" to see much. We'll see what we truly want to see.

We only spend about 3 hours a day there not including the sleep time at night.

We're still commando style park people. I still can't get our trips to make AP work for us, so during each trip we plan a couple of non-park days. We'll hang by the pool, DW gets a massage. If we're at VWL we'll rent a boat and go cruising. Play checkers at the Iron Spike. Have our semi-annual family minigolf tourament.

i'm 55, woman traveling solo. i've been an okw member since it opened, but haven't always used points (rented out). i'm making my first trip in aboout five years june 1-6, staying at boardwalk for the first time.

i am setting aside only maximum TWO park days (of six). the rest will be spent hanging around the resorts (i love them), people watching, sitting on my balcony having coffee, reading, watching movies, napping. i'm kinda strange in that i like a 'vacation' when i travel. i don't want to miss much relaxin' time in the beauty/comfort of my one-bedroom preferred view. as it may be the only time i visit boardwalk, i want to thoroughly enjoy this top-rated resort. next timie, it may be bcv or other resort i've not visited.

the parks are the 'perks' of dvc ownership for this little ole' lady. the real joy is in the resort stay itself.

We have three children 11,8,&3 and we still spend a great deal of time in the parks. Although I'd love restaurant hopping around the resorts - that's not something that the kids would make pleasant for us! I wouldn't say we tour commando style - though others might call it that. We still visit the parks each day and we usually take advantage of early entry. We stay until noon or so and then head back to the villa for swimming and a nap and then back to a different park around 5:00 or 6:00. I think in a few more years, we'll change to less park time - and hopefully a little more sleep-in time. But for now, that's how we spend our vacation. Our trips to VB and HHI are certainly more relaxing than the ones to WDW, so I'm thankful we have those resorts as options.

We spend a lot of time at the resort itself. The kids love swimming in the pools. We love to sit on the balcony at night.::MickeyMo

Thanks. It is very interesting to hear how others spend their vacation time at WDW. Although we have been enough times where we dont have to do the "Commando", I think we will still hit the parks just about every day. We are going to be there for 5 days, and we usually take our arrival day to just get settled and relax.

I think one other day we are going to golf and hit the Spa (depending on the $$$$). What I am really looking forward to is exploring SSR and checking out the Landscaping (I love gardening).

Also - since we will be at SSR, trying the restaurants at DTD and seeing how the resort food is as well. This will certainly be the most laid back vacation at WDW yet.

Of course - we will hit the favorites (Mission Space, Tower of Terror, Splash Mountain, and The Safari Ride, ok - so as many rides as we can fit in - we love em all) - so of course that means getting to all the parks. But - more time will be spent on the little things.

Another great suggestion someone mentioned was just touring the other resorts.

Thanks and I promise to give a thorough SSR report
