Based on the fact that I'm checking in the day after presidents day, I'm assuming the room won't be ready when we arrive (9am) due to a lot of people leaving after the holiday.

I know you can check your luggage and head off to do your business and call to check on your room status, but is there a certain time I have to be back at the hotel? Can I enjoy all day at the park then come back at 10 pm to complete check in, or do I need to return once the room is ready?

You can return to your room whenever you wish. You might just want to let them know you'll be late but it is no big deal.

Once you check in and are issued your room keys you could come back at 2 in the morning if you wanted to. You are processed into the system. If your room isn't ready they will give you a number to check to see if it is done. At that time you will find out your room number. When you come back from the parks you can go straight to your room, you don't need to stop at the front desk. When you are in your room you can call to have your bags delivered to your room.

While they will give you your keys when you check in, they will not give you your number until it is ready to occupy.

What you can do is call the resort while you are out and about and they will give you your room number, so you can go right to your room when you get back from the parks.

We did this once when we moved from GF to POR to meet my family. We checked in very early to get a jump on the day and we called them about 4 in the afternoon from DTD to get our room number.

Thanks for the replies!

I wanted to do MK and Chef Mickeys, but was worried we'd have to back track - after MK go to CSR to get the room, just to go back to MK and hop a monorail to CR. Good to know I don't have to!!!!
