how much time did you actually spend at the resort?

SHort weekender trips we do not spend much time there at all.

4 days or longer we take breaks in the day and head to the room for a nap!

We never use the pool at any resort we stay at, we are just not pool people...we live in SWFL so we swim whenever we want.

we usually spend a good amount of time at the resorts...lounging in our room, hanging out in the courtyards or on the beaches...going to the pools. So, to us the room/resort is important.

I think it depends
we usually go back for naps and pool time
we usualyl choose a deluxe and club level
that way we have snacks and drinks available all the time

I say go for the moderate!

1. BECAUSE you don't have any kids ... it's more quiet (typically) at the moderates and even if you are planning on being out at the parks all the time, it's nice to have the option to go back and relax at a quiet pool or walk around the grounds together and have a romantic moment.

2. If it's only 250 more dollars, to me, that's money well spent. I'm a hotel girl though and I have been to every moderate there is except POFQ (which I'm going to in september) and love them all. While I do think the value resorts are nice as well and have their place, I think the moderates have a nice atmosphere and feeling to them in general. Maybe you can work a little overtime at work to make up the 250 dollar difference if it's really that big of a deal to you.

3. Have you been to WDW before? If so you may want to take some time out from the parks to just relax and enjoy yourself. To me, vacations seem to last much longer if you stop and smell the roses so to speak instead of focusing on getting every ride done commando style!

4. If you're staying longer than 4 days .. then yes, go for the moderate!

in conclusion.... :teacher:

go for the moderate! haha.

ps. I also think CSR is a beautiful, well themed, romantic (especially at night for long, slow walks holding hands!) resort!

good luck!

EDIT: I used to be the type who was up at the butt crack of dawn and hitting the parks hard... all day long.. and then going to Pleasure Island or Downtown Disney at night and was NEVER in my room (when I went with my girlfriends and was single ;) ) but now that I'm with my DF... the last time we were at WDW we would wake up and have some breakfast at the hotel poolside (ASMu even!) and I realized, wow!, it's really nice to lounge around and just enjoy the resort!

My DW and I stayed at CBR b4 kids because we did a combination of park-intensive days with relaxing evenings. It was real nice. Truth is, you can create your own magic at so many places both in the park, as well as in the resort. If themes play a part for you, you may want to investigate the less expensive high-ends of WL or AKL.

Values do not even offer a hair dryer.

You will be disappointed in value,,,stay moderate

Such sweeping assumptions.
AND, the Value's do have hair dryers.

OP - I've only stayed at Value's for my three trips (and all of those trips were 2wks+) - Sports and Movies specifically. It costs a lot to travel from the UK, and then you have to stay a couple of weeks to make the trip worth it, so cost really factors in! I haven't had a bad experience at a Value.

On our next trip, we're going to stay at a Mod (probably CSR) because of the extra little things (running loop, slightly larger rooms, etc.). We're a young couple (early 20's). I would stay at a Value again, but whether I actually do will depend on circumstances (cost, children, etc.).

How much time you spend at the resort is a very individual thing. Depends how you like to vacation and such. If you want traditional romance, go for the Mod.

To Op-I've stayed at all the all stars too & music was the best for us. Again, it was the quietest with the lesser amount of groups ( sport, club...) I would stay at a value again, it almost feels more like home to me since I've stayed there so many times. POR just had something for us that was special. I do want to stay at other resorts-would love to try them all. I think $250 is not too much to upgrade to a resort that offers you more. By the way, if you stay at POR, go to Boatwright's for breakfast & order the sweet potato pancakes with honey pecan butter! Boy could I go for some of those right now. I think either place will be nice for you. If you do go value, I would definately do Music. All the rooms have been refurbed & there are some quiet spots in the resort-more toward the Broadway rooms.

We don't spend a tremendous amount of time at the resorts, but we like a good afternoon or evening swim, and a morning walk. Also, restaurants are a big factor in where we choose to stay. Finally, we don't go to WDW that often, every two or three years, so we spend the extra money for a deluxe, making it a nicer and more memorable vacation IMHO. :)

We feel the same way except that as the years have gone on, we have somehow managed to go every year.

We are DVC owners at SSR and our last trip of 7 days we stayed at the resort 5 full days, without leaving the pool. We also have no kids. :cool1:

We spend quite a bit of time in our room. We usually sleep in til 9:30 and head to the parks around 11....return around 4 or 5 and stay at the hotel the rest of the evening...we also love to eat in or right around the hotel.

I think the answer, in case you cant tell, is it depends. Mainly it depends on how long you are visiting for, and how many times you have been to WDW. If you have been many times in the past, then you may not spend the FULL day at the parks, and instead may choose to come back to the hotel to hang by the pool etc. Same thing goes if you are visiting for say over a week. WDW is amazing, but after about a week it can really drain you. You need some time to recharge the batteries, and again the resort is where thats gonna happen. My opinion, spend the $250, its worth it....

About 40% of our time is spent at the resort - sleeping, relaxing before and after a sleep, AND of course showering to get ready for our long days. Were staying at WL this October, so I figure that might get closer to 50% or more ...

If you do go value, I would definately do Music. All the rooms have been refurbed & there are some quiet spots in the resort-more toward the Broadway rooms.

not to change the subject... but when were they refurbished? i'm just curious cause DF and I were there May of 2006 and i'm wondering if our room was perhaps refurbished and we didn't know it? :confused3

It also depends on what time of year you are going down. If you are going down in the summer then I say go to a moderate, if not then there is nothing wrong with a value. When booking our trips my Dh and I sit down and talk about what kind of trip we want to have. If we are going down and are going to be non-stop in the parks, then we will book a value, we have stayed at them all and love them all! If we are going down and are planning to stay in the resort more to have a nice relaxing vacation, which normally doesn happen, then we will book a deluxe. So it depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for. Plus with the extra $250 you can spend a few more nights at a value on your vacation or you could have a nice little shopping spree! Either way will be great! I hope this helps!

They stared refurbishing in the rooms a few rooms when they were working on the Family Suites. The Suites opened late JUne of 2006 so only a few of the Standard rooms in the Calypso and Jazz rooms would have been finished by May of 2006.

Did your room have the new wood grain furniture and blue and tan bedspreads like this one?:

It's just DH and I, we never take trips longer trips like some (and lately, it's been 3 day trips prior to cruising). Though we have less time to see everything, we still manage to spend some time in the rooms. We usually get up early to open the park, then come back for a few hours rest/nap before heading out in the evening hours. Or sometimes we go until about 4 pm and head back to the resort for the rest of the night. We tried POP last time, our first value experience, and will not return. It was too chaotic for us -- we much preferred POFQ for the smaller size (less walking), busses, and peaceful quiet. This time we're trying WL to be a little closer to MK :thumbsup2

We spend a lot of time at the resorts. We generally go in August and early september. The weather is HOT No way could I stay all day at the parks. We also tend to go for 11-12 days, so there is no need to do the parks rambo style. If we get to a park and it's too crowded for us, we head back to our resort.

We found our resort to be just the ticket for relaxing after the sensory overload of the parks. We chose the WL for the bunk beds, queen size bed and price. We loved it for the calm atmosphere and serene setting and my kids loved the pool. :goodvibes

Your choice should be a comfortable one for you in price and atmosphere.

Have a super trip!
