How much 'teasing' goes on at 50's Prime Time?

Teasing is all in the eye of the beholder (or those getting teased). I have seen some tables get downright angry at the way they believe they are being treated (sometimes different cultures may not be aware of the theme of the restaurant). Of course, there are groups that really run with the teasing all in good humor.

If you're looking for a quiet, sit-down restaurant, this is not the place to go!

Been there twice, once had some not so great service to kick off with so he kinda stayed away from the table except to serve, even though my Mom was specifically doing things like putting her elbows on the table to get heckled. Second time we had great service with pretty much no heckling.....

Coming from someone who was a character server for 4.5 years, it all depends on how much you as a guest give them, they'll feed off how much you give them.

The "worst" I've ever gotten there, is just a little bit of mock rudeness, all part of the act. They often just throw your silverware/napkins in a heap on the table for you to sort out. Act a little "short" with you when taking your order.

They refer to my 5 yr old son as "scooter", "buster" etc. Nothing really too bad. I think they are kind of trained to read the guests- if you play it relatively "straight" they will do the same.

If you opt to "act out" and push back a little, they will do the same. They won't push buttons if they know someone isn't having a good time.

All that said, if your not going into this place looking for a little bit of irreverent fun being poked at you, do yourself a favor pick any one of the other restaurants on site where they treat you "nice" like any other traditional place.

We have only been once - and there was nothing over-the-top. It is was just a fun meal with nice server interaction.

If you are concerned about somebody feeling awkward - I would suggest not making it a meal early in the trip. I feel like we need a day or two to get in the 'vacation' state of mind. This is the kind of place you can have fun that you wouldn't at the Chili's back home.

We were there a month ago for the first time. This was our exact experience.

The food was okay. The kids loved their milkshakes. We might go back one day, but it's not a "must do" for us.

I am NOT one to go for being teased/embarrassed while paying to dine. DD wanted to go to some Dirty Dick's place in Myrtle Beach, and after reading some reviews I told her "absolutely NOT". We have been to 50's PTC 3 or 4 times and have never been upset by the antics. My uncle was told to take his hat off at the table once, and when we all giggled she gave him a few more jabs during the meal. It's never been remotely a problem for us (and I would definitely be sensitive about it), and the food is really good. I recommend the fried chicken if you like that - it's some of the best you'll ever have!

Go and don't worry about it. Yes the servers are great at reading people. We have been several times. Once my nephew was served his green beans that he didn't eat for dessert. They put whipped cream and sprinkles on them! I took a picture as he tasted them. It was all in fun!
