How much teasing at 1900 Park Fare?

We went to Chicago last week and ate at Ed Debevics (the diner where the wait staff teases the patrons). I thought my kids would think it was fun (DS10, DS8 and DD6). They absolutely hated it. My daughter was almost in tears when the waitress stole one of her french fries and then she refused to eat anything off of that plate. They had to bring her another meal (and the waitress promptly called her "princess" for the rest of the night). It was actually really funny, but not to a 6 year old.

Obviously Prime Time is out of the question, but we have reservations for the Cinderella meal at 1900 Park Fare. Do the characters tease the audience there? My kids don't mind getting attention (they actually will seek it out), they just don't like to be yelled at by their waitress and teased.

I don't think any Disney character meal would compare to the evening you described at Eds. . . I think that even Prime Time is way more mellow than what you described.

I was always a more shy child - I did not like attention called to me, and I loved 1900 and PT.

Not to worry, the only 'interactive' restaurants on property are 50s PT and Whispering Canyon at WL. The character meals aren't like 50s PT at all, no picking on the guests. The characters and their handlers are also very good at recognizing shy kids, and will not push themselves on anyone who'd prefer to keep their distance.

Don't worry about it. 1900 Park Fair is simply another character buffet meal where you get up and get your food and the characters will make the rounds to the tables. Personally, I don't like character meals but there are so many of them, I sometimes have to submit to them. You can just wave and say "hi" and that'll be it.

In my experience, the character on the first round will come over and stand a bit away from the table and if there are people gushing over them, then they will join in and "tease". If there is a lukewarm reception, they will wave and do something cute and then move on.

Hi. I have ate there a few times and always enjoyed it. They got a new Mad Hatter when i was there in October, went there on my bday. When he came to our table he said "what did you do to your hair!, you look like a bird!" He said it really LOUD and everyone was looking in awe, not laughing. I didnt like his rude comment. I miss the old Mad Hatter, he was funny w/o making fun of people's appearance. Other than this incident i didnt have any problems.

We just tell our server at Prime Time politely that we would prefer no act. Every single time, the server says 'thank GOODNESS!' and we end up having a nice chat with them, as they are mostly grateful for a chance to be themselves for a change.

OP, nothing at WDW compares to Ed Debevics, which is just downright rude and obnoxious!

You will love the Cinderella dinner at 1900 Park Faire. My DD was 8 when we ate there and I really think she wished the Prince had a glass slipper for her! She was all The food is fantasitc, and the characters were very sweet.

Thanks for your replies. I had heard the step sisters tease some, so I was a little nervous about this ADR after our experience in Chicago. I didn't want a repeat of the tears from DD and my boys getting mad at me for picking a place where the servers are mean. We have gone to WCC and our server was funny, but not at their expense.

1900 Park Fare is soooooo much fun. I ate there last night, and had a blast! No teasing whatsoever.

You won't have any problems at 1900 park fare, or any other character meal.

I would stay clear of Whispering Canyon Cafe as there was a report of a CM making a woman cry from embarrassment!
