How Much Spending $?

Just wondering how much spending money we need to bring in for our August trip (POFQ). We will have park hopper plus tickets and the free dining (which I know won't cover everything but from reading the dining threads--most everything), so I am not sure how much spending $$ to bring.

Do you usually bring travellers cheques or cash or just use Visa (which gets the best US rate?)? I know we can just charge everything to the room ...but overall I am just wondering what is a reasonable budget for spending (incidentals and for souvenirs, probably won't have a drink with kids but may use one of the kids clubs for a few hrs and have a drink with DH at PI)?
Thanks :cool1:

It all depends on how much you want to buy ;)

I bring $500 to spend. We all get one t-shirt, the kids get a new pin, I have to have a Christmas ornament, one souvineer picture from one of the rides, I do love Mexico's margaritas, and well whatever jumps out at us.

I bring mostly cash and some travellers cheques.

It really depends, but this is what brought last year.

My ten day trip with no meal plan included.

$200 per day for two adults and one child.

This included meals and all the extras and most days we didn't need the $200.

I always bring cash and my Disney Visa just in case.

I used the in-room safe to hold my money and only carried my money that I needed for the day.

Last trip I budgetted just over 100.00 usd / day for the 3 of us...for food/souvies ect.
This time will be more as DS has sprouted into one of those teens that eats everything in sight!

We are great ones for putting as much as possible on credit cards so we don't have to carry too much cash. Saying that...I think we brought $500 US for cash purchases and came back with money ~ we stayed 11 days at CSR / 7 days in the parks.

We bring 500 for spending money and when it is gone we stop buying things we do not go over it and it usually lasts us our 2 weeks we are there. We bring about 200 cash for gas etc for the van on teh drive and then 500 in TC's for spending money. We eat almost all our meals in the room being in a DVC room helps this out greatly as we have a full kitchen in the 1 bedroom.

I agree with most on the board. $500.00 should do it. I bring a certain amount to the parks to get souveniers, gifts or something for myself.
That's of course no including the money each day for the food. I checked out the dining included plan and it was cost effective for our family.

guess I should proof read before I send the posts. (late at night, I'm tired, etc. etc. etc. :confused3

Anyway I meant it was not cost effective for us to use the dining plan.

nitey, nite.

Thanks everyone for setting me straight!!! I was thinking at first about $1000 but my DH was saying that since all are meals are included (and free -- we got the free plan deal) we only needed $500.
