How much spending money?

This is the first time we're staying in a villa with some friends, so I'm not quite sure how much to budget for. We'll probably have breakfast at the villa most days, but will occasionally eat out. When going to the WDW parks, we'll be bringing our own snacks and have one QS meal per day (we're light eaters) and 1 or 2 character dinings during the trip. I'm also looking forward to and need a bit of spending money for some shopping at Florida Mall. We're having a rental car, so will only have to worry about petrol. It's just my husband and me, so how much would you suggest we bring for a 14 day holiday?

Well how much you spend on shopping in personal.

You will have parking at the parks so that's $20 each day.

For food I would probably allow $100-$150 per day depending whether you like a class of wine or a beer with dinner.

All in (excluding shopping) to be safe I'd budget $200 per day but I don't like to watch money on holiday. I also would only take in the region of $200 in actual currency - the bulk goes on a fee free credit card. The advantage to that is if we spend less I am not stuck with a load of money in dollars or on a pre-paid card.

Having said that Orlando is somewhere you can eat very cheaply if you want.

For a 16 day trip for a family of 5 we budget $3500, which is not far from the $200 a day recommended above.

Oh I didn't even consider the parking fees at the park :o As long as I can manage to get at least $100 per day for food + shopping money I should be fine. My problem is we're leaving in just over 4 weeks and we've got limited funds as we've had some unexpected bills. We're planning to eat very cheaply. Luckily we don't drink alcohol or fancy any of the expensive places to eat.

:thanks:

We take $5000 for a three week trip for the three of us. Always come back with loads but we know we are going again so its always nice to have some saved for next trip. We eat in nice places and dont worry about money when we are there. If I had to then I could easily do three weeks on $2100, $100 a day. Come to think of it if I ate in our apartment and didn't go to the shops then would be alot less than that, but thats only if I had to. We love eating out over there.

If we had to we could easily eat on a budget. Sometimes we do eat cheaply just for a change - I have "cooked" several times. Easy meals I have done in the room (we have a one bed DVC so have a full kitchen:
  • Steak, chips & salad
  • Publix fried chicken, jackets & salad
  • Frozen pizzas
I have also cooked a full roast dinner for friends!

On our first ever trip we stayed at a Rosen Inn, and took £1100 in Dollars, I have no idea how we managed to do what we did on that money (Ate out on I Drive, KSC, Busch etc), it's amazing how far it can go if you don't eat much in the parks I think!

I usually work on £100 a day for 5 of us to cover all food, snacks, parking etc then some days we spend much less than others but when averaged out this seems to be rough figure
we have separate mall fund and dh keeps a separate fund for fishing charter

Publix fried chicken, jackets & salad

OMG when we stay at our friends Villa near Champions Gate this is one of our favourite meals, as it quick easy and you can pick it all up on your way back from the parks.

Although now I'm just picturing myself sitting by the pool eating this meal with a nice cold beer. :drinking1 (Heaven).
