Hi

We have never been before and I am trying to work out a budget. It would be for 2 adults and 3 children aged 2, 2 and 6. Is the character meals any good?

How much is merchandise? How much would we want to take. I.e how much is a plush Mickey something like that. So I can roughly work out how much to take. I am worried I wont take enough.

Thanks
Michelle

Cafe mickey has a great character meal..it is 34 euros for an adult and 15euros for a child..most table service restaurants do set menus from 25-30euros for an adult.
I am not sure about the counter service though. I would guess about 10euros for an adult.

a small plush toy is around 15euros..I can not remember how much the bigger ones are, I think about 30euros.

Its hard to say how much to take.. It depends on how long you are going for, where you want to eat, how much shopping you plan to do etc. we can spend about 150 euros a day on food.

hi we have just returned and found the food quite expensive, but you have to eat!! we went to annettes diner and it was approx E15 for hot dog.chips and salad and E12 for a kiddies three course meal with a cup but we found other places that do kiddies meals cheaper. we also did cafe mickey which is worth every penny of the E34 for an adult 3 course meal. to see your childs face when the characters cometo your table is priceless!!! go there!!! n the studios we went to a cafe where you could get a large crocque monsiuer for E5 and a mickey pizza for kiddies. i took our own crisps with us to snack on and mars bars as snacks seemed hard to find there and our own bottles of water and juices. bottles of water were approx E2 and tea/coffee varied depending on where you went.
merchandise was okay, we bought a large minnie mouse dressed like a princess for E27 and they did the fantasia ones for the same price. mobile phone tags were E2.90 and little notepads with characters on were E3-4. The character dresses were as much as E45, we took one with us and wrapped it up for my little one as it was her birthday whilst we were there. autograph books were about E5 and very large helium balloons were E7.
hope this helps.

hi we went back in march, with jake, 5, libby 3 and emma 22 months , me and dh, we went for 4 nights/5 days, took 400 euros, had prebooked and paid buffalo bills, so that left 3 days of meals, and the money went on the meals, we took 20 euros for each child, and another 20 euros each of the grandparents, and we stuck to it, we didn't buy loads of souveniors, the food is expensive but the best place we found was cafe mickeys, looks expensive and it is, but money can't buy the atmosphere characters etc, money well spent, we also ate at plaza gardens and that was our cheapest evenign meal and it was very good, again characters, its a buffet mainly sweet stuff but there was pizza and sausage rolls. we also ate at the hotel cheyenne on our first night, wouldnt' do that again, but we were tired from the early start/ and it was handy. for lunch we went to victorias on main street and the pizza mickey could be shared between 2 children(if they don't fight over the mickey ears), also the corque monsiur sp? was so big we shared it between dh and me, we also took snacks with us from home, wish i had packed some fruit as that is hard to find, but apparently the station by the bus stop sells fruit and the petrol station outside the hotel also sells cheaper snacks, tip take your own water bottles and fill them up at breakfast, also we took the yougurst out with us, (don't forget spoons) and it helped cut the cost of lunch time, but still worked out expensive.

hope this helps, have a great time

Hi

Thanks for the information. At least we can plan what we need to take with us. We didnt even know where to begin. I know Bruce wants to eat at PH. Has anyone eaten here. Do you need to pre-book Chef Mickeys? Or do you just turn up?

Thanks
Michelle

you don't need to book like you do for wdw however at it is august you are going I would recommend going to city hall on main street when you first arrive and book it. you could just turn up however you will probably be given a time to come back and it could be quite late, and as you have young children its best to ensure you get the time you want.

we have ate at PH loads of times, I like it there, it does get mixed reviews though however the restaurant it self is worth a visit.
The only thing I dislike about it is the tables are very crammed together so I tend to go earlier when its not so busy.

Michelle, if you look here, the restaurants are all listed under Disneyland Park etc on the left, then click on "menu" and it will give you an idea of the prices.

Although the prices do seem dearer than WDW there is no tax to be added on and tipping isn't expected although we do tend to tip as we have always had good service.

we always tip between 5-10euros depending on the cost of meal.

Given the ages of your troop you can always share meals as well, to keep the budget down. In fact we often do that as everyone gets a taste of each meal :goodvibes

We usually eat breakfast in the morning (included in the hotel price), snacks that we brought from home during the day (+ buy an ice cream (summer) or waffle (winter) in the parks) and have a "decent" meal in the evening (25-34 EUR + drink)

Also, I always bring bottles of water from home. I think drinks are very expensive at Disney, so, I prefer to bring them from home. In the evening, I drink a lot in the hotel room, and then just have 1 drink during the meal.

Beanie-like Mickeys are +/- 13 EUR, the bigger ones 28 EUR

The collectibles are higher priced, no idea about the "kitsch" souvenirs they sell.

Oh, and btw, if you bring a VISA card, you don't need to worry about how much to bring!!

I usually bring my visa + 50 EUR for "small" purchases.

Also, sme counterservice restaurants (like le chalet de la marionette) have specials for "le gouter", which is usually a piece of pie + a drink for a good price.
