How much spending money for the week?!

We are leaving this week for our trip and I am wondering....

We are a family of five (see ages of kids in my signature). We are on the DDP and also have park hoppers.

We are staying at FW Cabins and we are taking breakfast foods, water, and snacks with us.

I bought my older two $25 gift cards today and plan on giving them another $50 each and that will be it for them! When it's gone...it's gone.

How much about should I plan on spending for extras? I will probably buy the little guy a couple of shirts and a couple of action figure type guys (his favorite kind of toy).

For my DH and I...we will probably purchase either a magnet or ceramic mug from each park. I can't imagine anything else. that we would want. We're not big shoppers like that.

I know I need to figure in tips from each TS-we are doing mostly buffets.

So DIS budget experts, can anyone come up with a rough estimate of what we may need as far as funds?

I am leaving on Friday and I am getting my money together. Each of the kids are taking $100 of their own money. That will be for their refillable mugs and any souvenirs they want or extra drinks or snacks.

DH and I are taking $500 that will be for tips (which we figure will take half of it on the DDP for 10 days), our refillable mugs, doing laundry and anything extra, we really don't buy souvenirs for ourselves. I think last time we went we brought some money home. We also carry one credit card each, but don't plan to use it.

I am planning on 100 dollars a day for myself. That will include food and whatnot if I see something I really want. My hotel will be close to being paid off then because I have been paying for it every payday. All I will have to worry about is getting there money and about 100 dollars for camcorder tape and stuff like that before the trip.

The older 2 you are giving $75 each so $150 there
the youngest, what you've mentioned will run about $75 as well (might be closer to $100 depending on what action figure type stuff he likes)

a mug from each park will run $10-20 depending on what type of mugs you are looking for. So high end $80 for those (better to guess high and have money leftover)

so say $350 for that stuff plus some extra just in case.

I'd also plan for around $200 in tips but I can't see how long your trip is for so that's a random guesstimate. LOL

If it were me with the scenario I'd plan on bringing $600 just so I was covered.

We have a family of four coming over in March to vacation with us, with 2 children too young to know the value of money. I recommended $50/day to them. Nearly everything involving the vacation itself (airfare, lodging, tickets) is already paid for and half of their time in the US will be spent at our house. They can spend practically nothing some days and have plenty for extras when they get to Orlando.

You are going to get very different extremes in answers here. We don't buy souvies so we don't need a lot of spending money. Ours goes toward mostly tips and an adult beverage or two. We typically spend only about $300 in a week and that's tipping at 20%. Tips for a family of 5 at a buffet will probably run you about $30/meal if you don't get extras (alchohol or apps at a non-buffet meal)
