How much snow have you got?

none here in llandudno!
it tried this afternoon, but nothing came of it.i must say,we are really lucky here,as we are never affected,so watching the news earlier, was quite an eye opener, seeing how bad, some of you,are having it:scared1:
my friend, was due to go,to the dominican this morning, but they have been put up,in a hotel & are hoping to fly tomorrow.fingers crossed, they will get away from manchester, some time tomorrow.
stay safe everone!

The north west seems to have been pretty bad in general, my work is closed tomorrow (I think all schools and childrens centres in the Wirral are) which is a relief. It took me an hour and a half to get in this morning (should be half an hour) and getting home from Liverpool city centre was scary: Broken down/abandoned cars and the roads were all like ice rinks, cars skidding and getting stuck everywhere! :scared1: The buses are all off and taxis are charging double fare so loads of people were walking home, can't imagine what the trains must be like! By all accounts my drive has been a walk in the park compared to many, heard on the radio of people being stuck in traffic for hours not moving :headache: I know that Liverpool has run out of grit, though how much use it'd be at this point is debatable. There's supposed to be a snow plough on it's way from somewhere in the south too.
On the bright side, the children at work all had ball playing outside. For some of them this is the first 'real' snow they've seen :goodvibes

We only have a light dusting which laid the other day. They forecast more overnight but its a wait & see what parts of the south get it.

Yep, heard that too!
The school I work in (up in Maghull) is shut tomorrow thankfully, but my missus has to get up to Ormskirk in the morning, and Ormskirk is ten times worse for snow and ice than Liverpool so she's not looking forward to it at all!!

:goodvibes

We woke up to about 3 inches here with lots of roads closed. Its a fairly hilly place to live, up hill and down dale and our road into Douglas was closed. Lots of businesses closed, even Tesco's!!! And our's wasn't forecast. Lets see what tomorrow brings.

Oh dear, I heard it's bad there... Hope she has a slow, steady and safe journey :goodvibes The bf is still in tomorrow (one of the very few council departments that are up and running, they're 24 hour every single day of the year so no choice in the matter!) but I think he's going to walk since it's not likely the buses will be back on, it'll probably be quicker and definitely less dangerous than me driving him in.

Having just been out to take the bins out (here in Aintree) we've decided it's gonna be hell in the morning so she's gonna get the train if they're on!!

Means I can enjoy my lie in feeling easier now she's not gonna be driving ;)

Looks like most schools are off tomorrow, I'm selfishly hoping it last til at least Thursday, got a massive pile of reports to write :surfweb:

:goodvibes

Am in Windsor at my mums house and it's only been snowing about 30 mins, but it's coming down heavily now. There's one thing to being unemployed, I can go out in the snow tomorrow - yippee

Tina

I'm just down the road from you and we're getting it quite heavily now. Our Head lives in Reading, where I think it is worse and she has decided to close the school tomorrow.
I'm so sad. :rotfl2:

Sure is going to be a looong walk.

We got 1-2 inches over night in Northampton. I'm at work in Wellingborough and they don't seem to have had as much but it is snowing quite heavily now - since about 9am.

Stay safe everyone :goodvibes

Given the forecast, I reckoned it would be prudent yesterday to take some food supplies to my Mum who lives 20 miles away. Driving there at around 11:30am, Matt commented that he thought the forecasts would come to nothing. Less than half a mile further on, the first flakes started to fall. Needless to say, I didn't pass up on the opportunity for relentless mocking. Returning home, it was coming down thick and fast by the time we turned into the top of our road. "Yeah, but it won't settle" predicted Matt "Michael Fish" Churchill. By the time we pulled on to the drive, there was a visible covering! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

It snowed steadily until around 5pm, but we hadn't had any more when we went to bed. When I looked out at 3am, we'd clearly had some more and it was snowing lightly then. It had stopped by the time we got up this morning, but it started again an hour or so ago. I can't see anything falling at the moment.

We're supposed to be going to my brother's in East Sussex tomorrow, but we'll have to play it by ear.

Just phoned work - my colleague managed to make it into work by walking to the train station, catching the train to Bath and walking the 3 or so miles form the train station into work.

Interestingly enough, my boss (who lives approx 500 yds from work) has not yet made it in :rotfl:

none for us overnight ... although the school is closed because lots of pupils and teachers live in outlying villages where there is lots of snow. It does look very icy out there though.:scared1:
