How much of a tip should we leave for Mousekeeping?:confused3 It will be me, my DS and DD staying at WL for 10 days.

Thanks in advance!
:thumbsup2

I like leaving $3-$4 dollars daily. I do the tipping daily vs end -of- stay because how can you be sure the same person cleaned you room every day.
I've also leave a special thank you AT THE DESK WITH MY ROOM# when service has been great ( replenishing of "everything" / obvious vacuuming etc )

I ususally leave $ at the front, but now that I think about it might not be the same person daily I would like to leave it daily. How do you do that so they know the $$ is for them?

thanks in advance,:confused3

We leave about $3 per day - this past April, I just wrote "Thank You Mousekeeping" on a napkin and tucked in inside. Mousekeeping took the money and left the napkin, so we just re-used it each day. Worked out nicely. I've heard to plan on a $1 per person per day...

We leave an envelope with some stickers and a thank on the bed. We leave $1 per person per day. I get the envelopes done before we go and just lay one out every morning before heading to the parks. That is what we do but different people leave different amounts.

I usually leave a dollar per person per day. This time I have "mousekeeping envelopes" done up to leave each day..just a little magic that I can spread while I am receiving it:)

Here come the flames but I don't tip mousekeeping ULESS and UNTIL there is something exceptional happens. We have been to WDW several times and have never gotten towel animals, wash cloth animals, rug animals or anything related. All we have ever had is one more soap, one more shampoo, etc. I simply don't believe in tipping unless I have something to tip for. We just recently spent a week at Coronado Springs and I had to leave a note taped to the mirror to change the lightbulbs - 2 were burned out. I intentionally had left the lights on the first day thinking that surely, maybe the maid would notice that only ONE bulb was burning. Nope. I also had to leave a note to leave me some coffee. I thought surely it would be noticed that I had used what was in the room, but again, nope. I'm not complaining, this was probably our best WDW vacation EVER as we absolutely loved CSR - it was beautiful,l peaceful and lovely. But it's my practice to tip for EXTRA service and I did not get it.

I'm glad to find this info as we are staying at Disney for our first time!

Thanks

We tipped Mousekeeping every day on our trip in April and our room was spotless. I think we tipped between $3-$5 a day.

We'll see if we get the exact same kind of service in October.

last year when we went to disney we stayed at all star music and the person kept comming into our room. we had the sign on the door, but that didnt stop her. the one morning my husband was standing there in a towel and she just barged in the room and asked if we were ready for her to clean our room. things like that happened every morning. the only thing she got from us was a complaint at the front desk.

I tip every day. Ever since I began doing this I feel I have had better service. I have also noticed I get more towel animals - used to get none at all and now I get multiple animals.... I usually go by myself or with one other person and tip $4 per day. I would suggest to the above no tipper that they try tipping and see if their experience improves. These people don't make a lot of money and if you are spending a lot on a vacation another $3 per day isn't a lot to spend.

This tipping of housekeeping is all new to me. Is this just a "Disney only" practice, or do you folks tip everywhere you go? I have never heard of tipping housekeeping before these boards. I am all about it - if they do a good job.

The only thing I can compare it to is on a cruise ship. We always tip our room steward extra if they do a great job. BUT, do people tip housekeeping at the Holiday Inn in Houston (just an example) - just because? Just trying to learn! :)

well I need to tell you that I also work for min. wadge and tips, Im a hairstylist, and when my clients ask me for a certian haircut or style I try to do my best to respect there wishes. So in turn when I put a sign on the door indecating that I do not wish to be disturbed and my wishes are not respected for 7 mornings every morning being asked when we were leaving so she can clean our room I think that anyone would complain. I have learned in my 20 years as a hairstylist if you do good work you get rewarded well, and if you dont you get nothing.

When Mousekeeping learn to dust, tuck sheets in properly and put all covers on beds, we'll start tipping again.

I love POR but I can't beleive how slack the mousekeeping standards are. I've seen so many negative comments about it and yet it hasn't improved in years.

When it does, I'll tip.

Wow never heard of tipping house/mousekeeping? Not trying to say anything bad but it's just second nature to me and I grew up with my parents always tipping and subsequently I always tipped -- my hubby grew up the same way. It's definitely not a Disney only thing. :)

I think we'll do the tip per day thing for this trip; it makes sense.

Before these boards I had never heard of tipping before either. We do now but we also only do it when things are done well etc... just like any other kind of tipping.
I have talked to a lot of people about this and some tip hous/mousekeeping and some don't. More often than not people have not heard of doing this.

We actually find it fun to decorate the envelopes etc....
Side note... I don't think we have gotten any better service since we do this. At least I haven't notived anything above and beyond or anything.

It is actually customary to extend gratuities for housekeeping service at hotels and resorts. Obviously it should be based on service level and experience.
