How much should I budget for?

I want to start making a HUGE contribution to my savings account for my WDW trip... I am thinking i need about 4K for the trip total.

It will be my DH and I only, and we want to stay at the value resorts and we want to drive from MI there. I know the gas prices depend on the price of gas during the time of year that we go. I am willing to do my budget without the gas in there.

I need to know what you think I should budget for food and souvenirs. This will be my first trip to WDW so I know I will be so crazy when I get there. LOL

Do you already have your trip planned & the dates you'll be traveling yet?

If not, when do you plan on going?

My suggestion:

--you say you think you'll need about 4K for the trip (I would figure in the cost of gas - whether it goes up or down, you'll need money to pay for this)

--I think you should count the # of weeks you have until you'll be going to WDW. Divide $4,000 by that # & you'll have the amount you need to save every week.

--In addition, start a change jar. Also, start saving your single's & if you have a Disney Store near you turn the singles into Disney $'s whenever you are near that store. Don't touch the change jar until a week or so before you're ready to leave. Use this & the Disney $'s as your souvenir & snack money.

4K is a lot for 2 people staying at the values. How long are you staying? To what kind of restaurants are you planning to go? Counter or sit down? We need more information.

Our trip LY was $3000. 7 days POR, and not really watching the money too much for 2A and 2C including airfare/car service. So I bet you could do better than that for a week....but post more details.

DH and I use to vacation here and we did not spend $4k. Even with the $$$$ I spent on pins we did not spend that much. Of course you are probably throwing in the cost of your passes.
It will depend on when you are coming. Holiday season and Value season are greatly different.
