How much should I ask for my above ground pool?

I have someone interested in buying our above ground pool but I have no idea how much to ask for it. (We didn't use it at all last year and just need to get rid of it). It's an Esther Williams, 26" round (or 24"?), with ladder, cover, filter. DH says just give it away or get $50 for it but I definitely think it's worth more than that. I don't want to overask or overcharge, of course, but I also don't want to give it away!
Any opinions?

I bought a used one, but I had to take it down, and remove it ,wont do that again... I gave them $100 for it... If yours is already down and ready that should be easier. GOOD LUCK,,,,,,,,,,,DOOM BUGGY

I'm with your DH on giving it away or just $100 or so...especially if the buyer has to take it down and transport it, etc.

we bought a 28 ft. DoughBoy Pool used, for 50.00 but we had to buy a new liner around 500.00 . It was already taken apart.

I am not really familiar with it, but if it is something you just want rid of then $50-$100 at most! I needed some sheetrock gone but wanted something to show for it, so I said a $1 a sheet. I had people responding left and right. To me though, the most important part was getting it gone.

I would give it away and let them remove it. This is not time to get greedy. It is something you don't need and want it gone, so make it extremely appealing to the greatest number of people.

It would probably cost you more than $50 to have the thing hauled away. Not to mention the hassle of taking the thing apart. If the person is willing to take it down and haul it away than $50 sounds like a bargin!!

We ended up bartering ours away over craigslist. We were putting in an inground pool, and the guy that took the old pool owns a tree service so he removed the trees we needed cut down. No out of pocket for either of us, and we both got something we needed.

Oh goodness! Really? This isn't a must sell or even something we advertised, just something someone asked if we had to sell. They did say they would come take it down, etc. I just didn't realize they didn't have any value, basically! (Kind of like they say an inground doesn't add value to your house--can't imagine spending $25,000 and it adds nothing, sometimes decreases, the price of your house when selling!) I just thought with the cover and vacuum and all that it was worth a bit more but I guess not. I'm certainly not greedy but I sure thought I was gonna get more than that!
Thanks guys!

We priced it, and it would have been almost $300 for someone to take the pool down and haul it away.

DH had rotator cuff surgery about a month prior to this, so there was no way he could do the job himself. With the cost savings of having someone take the pool down along with what it would have cost to have 2 trees removed, we figure we definitely got the better bargain.

We gave ours away. One of DH's coworkers came with a crew and took it down and carted it away. Whoever takes it will have to buy a new liner when they reinstall it and that can get expensive. Someone in our neighborhood tried to sell theirs and no one was interested. They ended having to pay to have it taken down and hauled away.

Wow, these have been really informative replies! I am so glad I asked y'all before I made a fool of myself asking a ridiculous price! I had no idea they were basically worthless!! Suppose DH was right in thise case!
Okay, so do I need to tell the interested people that they will HAVE to get a new liner? Is that in all cases--they can't be moved without tearing? And I can't find the paperwork for the life of me, I'm wondering if someone would know how to put one up without a manual? I just remember my brother, an engineer, put it up and the ground had to be level and it wasn't as simple as I was thinking it was going to be. But I do want to give the people a heads up if they think they are getting a great deal only to have to buy a $$ liner.
Thanks again guys.

Our liner was a beaded one, and only 2 years old. The guy that took the pool set it up at his house the same day he took it down so was able to get away without buying a new liner. Also, we didn't empty it completely until the evening before he was coming over. YMMV.
