How much pregnancy weight did you gain?

Both of my pregnancies started at the same weight, 117lbs. I gained 34 with DS11 and 20lbs with DD7.

I am overweight. With my DD, I only gained 15 lbs.

I am 4'10" and alternate between 155/160. At the beginning of my pregnancy with DD I weighed 160, and just before she was born (5 days in fact was my last OB appt) I weighed 175. One week after DD was born I weighed 155.

I was a borderline gestational diabetic, and my doctor thinks insulin reistance came into play. DD was born a healthy 6 lbs 15 oz. So no problems with her. In fact my Ob was expecting her to be larger and take a toll on my body. She was so small though, that we had to run out and buy preemie clothes and newborn clothes to clothe her for the first month, because all of her other clothes were SWIMMING on her. She is now three and has finally caught up, mostly in size, except for her waist, which is a size below (tops/dresses are a #t or 4T and pants are a 2T/24 months). However, for two years I got double useage out of most of her clothes, espically if they were Gymboree which runs a little large.

I was tested for Gestational Diabetes EARLY (around week 12 due to my family history) so for most of my pregnancy I watched what I ate (however that did not stop me from having a mint chocolate chip kid's cone from Baskin-Robbins once a week). I wasn't perfect, but I watched what I ate.

I never had morning sickness, however my appetite went way way down. I used to joke that my husband was the one "eating for two" because he'd often finish my meals.

ETA: For most of my pregnancy I gained NOTHING. I started having biweekly appointments earlier than most, due to the gestational diabetes thing and my OB had me see a high-risk OB as well. So every week I was seeing either my reg Ob or the high risk OB. Anyway, every week the weight stayed the same. Until the last month and a hlaf when it climbed up. We actually cheered when I went up 1 lb.

i gained 25 or 30 with my son who was 10 lbs and maybe 34 with my dd who was 7 lbs.I was 98 lbs before with my son and 104 lbs before with my dd.I am 5ft 6 so it was a little skinny....and i was lucky the only thing that grew was my belly for both....from the back you could not even tell I was pregnant lol

1st baby- started at 110, gained 50.
2nd baby- started at 115 (when first baby was only 3 months old) gained 60 (!!)
3rd baby- started at 120, gained 15.
4th baby- started at 135, gained 30.

Guess which baby was the biggest? Baby 3.
They were all healthy, so that's all that matters.
I will tell you that losing the weight after having a baby at age 35 compared to the one I had at 20 was much, much, harder. I lost all 50 pounds after the first one in less than three months.
My youngest is 16 and I still haven't lost the baby weight. As a matter of fact, according to my scale, I should be delivering any day now. ;)

My first pregnancy I gained 15 lbs. Baby was 8'11

My second pregnancy I gained 24 lbs. Baby was 8'1

started at 129 with DD, gained 26 DD weighed 7 lb 8 oz/ breech c-section
started at 127 with DS gained 21. DS weighed 9 lb 1 0z / VBAC (rough time)
Difference? Wasn't at a desk job pg w/DS...was chasing a 3 year old. Also, no morning sickness with DD and craved hostess cupcakes and mtn dew, and chips and salsa :rolleyes1 I ate all of the above. DS morning sickness..but otherwise both pregnancies yeilded me better health than any non-pregnant time of my life. :thumbsup2
Congrats!

I gained 41 but it must have been all water and baby because I was swollen but 30 lbs lighter the day I went home from the hospital. Between the sweats and urination I was losing fluid by the minute.

I started at 98 lbs both times. I gained 24 with the first (he was 7lbs 7 oz) and 16 with the second (she was 6 lbs 1 oz). Both times, I left the hospital in my regular clothes. That was 20 and 19 years ago respectively.... now I weigh more than I did when I delivered either of them! :rotfl2:

I think 25-30 is normal. I started at 110 for both of mine and gained about 20. My mom always warned me not to freak out if you have a big weight gain between 2 appointments, and she was right. I was creeping along with the weight, then once between 2 week appointments I put on something like 7-8 pounds. :scared1: But then it averaged out again until I delivered.

I was horrified that I got a ton of stretch marks. I don't think those have much to do with how much weight you gain, but more to do with heridity. I've gotten over it now. :thumbsup2

I gained 40 pounds when I was pregnant with DS, and 24 for DD.

25 with DS18-he was 8' 1oz

35 with the twins -they were 7'5oz and 6'7oz

Keep in mind, the extra calories you should add to your diet are roughly equivalent to an extra carton of yogurt each day. Just eat a healthy, balanced diet and you will be fine.

I couldn't eat anything sweet with DS18-it was all hypersweet tasting. Some foods while cooking made my stomach turn too. I didn't have any issues with food with the twins though.

My midwife's office didn't tell me my weight the last trimester, but when I checked in at the hospital for my induction I found out I gained almost fifty pounds. I'm smaller framed and was boderline underweight so she told me that forty to fifty pounds would be healthy. I've lost all but ten pounds almost six months after the baby's birth.

I found some great advice, support, chat, and laughs on the due date month boards on babycenter dot com. You should check it out, it might help you out with your pregnancy!

I dug out an old book I got in high school called Our Bodies, Our Selves. It says women should gain between 25 and 30 lbs. But online I read that it should be between 30 and 40 lbs. Maybe my book is outdated and medically inaccurate?

I'm 120 lbs now. What would be a good weight for me to aim for or not aim for?

My mom said she gained 35 lbs with me and Will's mom said it was around the same with 2 of her children and with the third she gained 60.

How much weight did you gain, if you don't mind me asking?
With DS, I gained 50 lbs. on strict bedrest for the first 2 trimesters of my pregnancy (I did pretty darn good considering the circumstances...).

With DD, I was still "overweight" - I honestly didn't try too hard to lose the last 1/2 of DS's baby weight - and I gained 25 lbs. with her.

If you are of a healthy weight in the beginning, 25-30 lbs is normal. Just eat lots and lots of fruits and veggies and lay off the ice cream and potato chips and you will be just fine.

Remember, childbirth is the easiest way to lose 10 lbs. ;)

ETA: I just got back to my pre-baby weight before DD and was bad over Christmas and went back into the "negative" by about 7 lbs... However, I'm only 30 off what I was when I graduate high school, and have every plan to get within 10 lbs of that by the end of this year. :)

Currently I am 18 weeks in with my first and have actually lost weight.

Now I started off a bit heavy. I was 5'4" and 157 (size 10). Right now I am hovering at 155 lb. I have not been real sick and am not dodging weight, just eating healthier now that I have more time to cook. At least 2 servings of veggies and 3-4 servings of fruit per day. All home made meals and going walking daily. My OB said I should gain 15-25 total.

I am sure I cant keep up this not gaining thing forever, but it sure is nice for now!

ETA: Also remember you only need an extra 300-500 calories a day for baby! So eat healthy for both of you!

Overweight to begin with...with the last 1 who was a 10 pounder I gained 2 lbs an was eating an eating even ate 10 to 15 snickers bars a day every day along with my healthy food.

Weighed myself soon as I got home from hospital I'd lost 30 lbs since giving birth went tried my jeans on an they hit the floor after I buttoned an zipped let go an they hit the floor.

I gained 28 lbs with my first child. She was 7lbs 4 ozs. I retained 10 of those pounds (never, ever to be lost again!!).

I gained 23 lbs with my son. He was 8 lbs 4 ozs. I got back to my pre pregnancy weight after that, although I was/am still retaining those "extra" 10 lbs from first pregancy and that was 19 years ago!

I think 20lbs with my first (she was 5lb-2oz) and about 25lbs(she was 4lb-12oz) with my second. They were early by 5 weeks and I was on bedrest. I was not overweight to begin with so I just had a few lbs to drop to get back to normal.

I gained 50 with my first :scared1: never lost it all and then gained a mere 20 with my second and did lose that all. Baby #1 weighed almost 10 pounds and baby #2 weighed almost 8 pounds.

I gained 43 with DS12 and 18 with DS7. (DS7 was 6 weeks early, but he was 5 lbs, 8.75 oz.)
