I am ordering party pizzas (35 pieces) for DD's family birthday party. We are having anywhere from 18-25 people. I have no clue how many I need. I plan on having a big salad, veggie tray, my dd love pumpernickle and spinach dip. I am at a loss at, how many pizzas? 2,3,4 I have no clue.:confused3 Party is at 2, but since there is a playoff game at 4ish I could have people here till 7.

i would do at least 6 - that would be 2 slices pp - 4ppl per pizza
maybe get an extra
i think you should plan on the 25ppl
if you have leftover pizza that would be okay - better than running out

seems every time i respond i cant edit - sorry - i read this wrong

since each pizza has 35 pieces i would think 2, maybe 3, would be okay

I agree with at least 6, possibly go up to 8 pizzas. Even with the other food, I think most people will go for the pizza and then use the other food to supplement and/or snack on later.

I usually plan on the high side since the last thing I want to do is to run out of food.

I would go for 3 pizzas. That's 105 pieces of pizza, or 4 per person with the maximum crowd size. Some will eat more, some will eat less, but especially with the salad, veggies, and dip no one will leave hungry!

I can't edit either and the 35 piece pizza didn't register the first time I read it. I agree with Newholiday and say two should be good.

Ask the pizza place, I bet they are pretty good at estimating it. I always order extra, and send it home with people if I have leftovers

I would order 10 pizzas myself. Especially if you plan on having men or teenagers attend your party. I would FAR rather have too much than not enough. You can always freeze the leftovers.

After re-reading your original post and seeing the answers of others, I'm not really sure what a "party pizza" is. Is that a fancy term for a regular pizza cut into squares instead of the traditional slices? Is it supposed to be a finger food? Or something that I'm just unaware of?

Irregardless, if this is planned as a meal OR is being served during a traditional meal time, I would still order 10. But I grew up in a family where the worst social faux paus you could have ever made was to fun out of food! So I always have too much, and then I'm happy! :)

Thanks everyone, the local pizza place calls it a party pizza. I am thinking it is a sheet pizza, cut into squares. It has been awhile since I ordered for so many people.....Now what toppings..I thought pizza would be easy.

I would also order at least 8 pizzas, preferably 10. The worst thing to happen to a party is to not have enough food. Even though they call it a party pizza, maybe their pieces are bite size and you would need 4 pieces to really equate to 1. We have a pizza place around here that cuts their squares so small that you really need at least 4 to 5 pieces to make a regular slice. Plus this pizza is so thin that you need another couple of pieces to make it the right consistency.

I would order 3 cheese, 3 with sausage, 2 vegetable, 2 pepperoni

Pizza freezes well so I wouldn't worry about left overs.

Or you could mix it up and do pineapple with hot peppers, which is delicious. And another with bbq sauce and some kind of meat. Sounds gross, but it is good.

How big is the pizza - 35 pieces doesn't really tell us much. Are they 10, 12, 14, or 18 inch pizza?

I don't know how OH makes their pizzas compared to NY. But basing it on NY style, about 4 or 5 pies should be fine.

We ordered 9 large pies for our DS4's b-day party last June with about 40 somthing people there (kids and parents) and even that was too much. I think we went through about 4 or 5 pies and had plenty left over

Food? You plan to provide food? (Recalling my post-Christmas thread, where I went to a party where essentially no food was provided.)

I'm so glad I read this...I'm having difficulty myself just figuring out pizza for 10 kids for my son's upcoming birthday party!

The place I'm going to says their extra-large serves 4-5 people & large 3-4; so I'm thinking 1 extra-large cheese & then 2 larges.

For toppings, if I were you, I would go with at least 1 cheese, then a sausage or pepperoni (depending on what is popular there). My theory of things is even if someone doesn't happen to like the toppings you picked out, they can fall back on the cheese. :) Maybe a veggie one.

A typical large round (neopolitan) pizza has 8 slices. Figure on each guests eating at least two slices. You would then need 2 times the number of guests (25) or 50 slices. 50 slices divided by 8 slices per pie = at least 6 large pizzas to get to 48 slices.

At least out by us, places make party pizzas that have to be at least 3' x 2'. It's about the size of 3 pizzas and is meant for a crowd. They have about 30-ish regular size square slices (at least 3" x 3" per slice)

How much does one "party pizza" cost? Maybe that would help us tell how big it is...
