How much notice before price increases?

Historically, how many days before hand is it announced that there is going to be a price increase on annual passes?

I don't think we are going to be able to make it until fall this year and the last couple summers they have gone up. My plan is to try and buy our annual passes before the price increase and then activate them when we go in the fall. We wouldn't have to pay the increased price, correct?

The price increase has been at the beginning of August each of the last few years now. There was an extra price increase in January of last year, so that made for two increases in 2010. There's usually some buzz about the expected increase for a few days to a couple weeks before it happens. I haven't heard anything yet this year, so I'm hoping that we won't see two price increases again. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised though if it happened or if Disney moved the price increase up before summer this year with the new Star Tours and Little Mermaid rides opening up.

For a similiar reason I could see them keeping rates steady in August. Nothing is going to change accept plenty of wall that won't come down until summer of 2012.

But the main thing i see is Disney waits for things to slow down so they can ease in higher prices.

I was thinking this same thing about buying our Aps before price increases even though we wont' go until Oct.

So I"m wondering if we do buy them in August and activate them in Oct are the valid dates Oct-Oct or Aug-Aug? I don't want to lose 2 months of use on them while we are waiting for our trip.

Your year starts the day you activate the pass. So if you activate it on Oct 1, 2011, the pass is good through Oct. 11 2012.
