How much more is your 2013-2014 vacation costing?

Last year I got an exceptionally good dead for a deluxe stay, with free DP / upgraded to a discount DDP.

This year , same dates, same DP, no discounts, a whopping 2000.00 more. The actual trip is 1500.00 more but add in another 500.00 to compensate for the lack of DDP.

Thank goodness I have been charging everything , including bills through my. Disney Visa .

By funneling everything through the card I should have 800-1000 by November.

Ours is just under 6k for 15 nights/5 people / free dining / with non stop airfare.

Our last trip was September 2011, 7 nights at POFQ with free dining, 2 kids and 2 adults, total cost $2300.

This year, we are going same time frame (Labor day), 7 nights offsite at Windsor Hills, paying out of pocket for dining, 1 kid, 3 adults (now one kid is adult priced), and this time we are flying down instead of driving, total cost $3500.

So, while it's about $1000 more, all things aren't equal since we now have an extra adult and flying down.

I don't always travel with my full family to WDW (DD and I go on long weekends more often).

The last trip we all took was Free Dining March 2012 for five nights staying at CSR with park hoppers. (It was just under $2000).

This next trip (if we keep it), is 35% bounceback discount on December 2013 trip for five nights.

The room at BC at 35% discount is about $100 more than the room/base tickets/dining were at CSR. We haven't even added in dining or tickets to the trip yet. So, it's likely to cost us more than twice as much as our previous trip. Crazy!

Last time our holiday cost £4000 ($6315 approximately) for 10 nights in a offsite condo, 5 day MYW base tickets x3, 2 day Universal tickets x3, direct flights to MCO x3, spending and car rental.

This time it's costing us £2,600 ($4141 approximately) for a Disney UK package with 7 nights at CBR, direct flights x2 and 14 day Ultimates x2. Car rental will be about £100 more on top.

So £1300 less for 2014's holiday.

The first part of our trip will be much cheaper then our second part! We are driving down and staying at AKV 2 bedroom savannah view. Using RCI we are paying 357 for the week! Can't get better then that!

What is RCI? I thought I knew all the DIS abbreviations. Anything that gets AKL down to $357 for a week is something I want to learn about--NOW!

TIA:love:

It's a vacation exchange company that timeshare owners can use to trade out of their own timeshare in order to use a different timeshare. There are usually fees associated with the transaction and there isn't always DVC availability thru RCI. Basically, a DVC member would have to trade out their Disney points to stay at another RCI-participating timeshare in order for someone from another timeshare to be able to trade into DVC.

The PP either owns a timeshare that participates in RCI, or they have a friend/family member who is allowing them to use their timeshare points to trade into DVC, just asking them to pay the exchange fee.

No vacation this summer. Well we did visit my Mom at the beach so we had a free trip a week ago. Last year AOA trip to Disney it was great but money was tight and I swore I wouldn't do if that way again( I didn't charge anything thankfully)

So this year we are laying low. We are doing some local fun like knoebels, Bronx Zoo, Camlbeach ect. So we will spend under $1000(we are a family of 6 and somehow ended up with extra kids for Knoebels trip)

I'm trying to just be grateful for the fun we got to have and wish upon a star for future fun.

And yes I too thought about the kennel saving. Usually around $500

This trip will be actually pretty reasonable since we bought an annual pass and a non-expiration pass last year before our wedding/honeymoon. We're two adults going Sept. 19th - Sept. 29th. 7 days at Disney parks, 1 day at Universal, and 1 day at Sea World. Our last trip was fairly expensive due to it being our wedding/honeymoon.

Rented points to stay in a BLT studio for 7 nights: $1,100

Half of the AP and half of the 10 day non-expiry ticket: $600

We bought a TIW card last trip so with getting 20% off our meals and buying 5% off gift cards from Target, I usually overbudget at $100 a day for us (though we typically spend $75-$80 a day, which will be even lower at 25% off). We do two TS meals a day at Disney, but typically just CS at Universal and Sea World: $1,000 for ten days

3 nights at Wyndham Bonnet Creek: Free from parents

Flights: Free from Southwest points (ok, $69 for the annual fee)

We have Sea World annual passes (I don't really factor this in as we go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg/Water Country all the time so we get lots of uses out of our Platinum passes) and a day left on a pass to Universal.

My parents are going too and are driving so they'll be our transportation outside of Disney :)

We don't buy souvenirs, but I budget $150 for misc. stuff.

$70 for airport parking.

And the biggest budget buster: $800-$1,000 to board three dogs for 10 nights. They could stay at a room in BLT for that price! ;)

Oh, and two tickets to the Halloween party : approx. $120.

Disney total: $2,820
Transportation/Other stuff: $1,289
Total: $4,109

That's almost always overbudgeting by about $300. Plus, we'll have about $150 on our Disney Rewards card.

Ok so glad I am not the only one freaking about the dog boarding. Mine for 10 days (3 dogs) is $1000-1300 depending on the place. That is like a fifth of our total vacation cost :0

Too much :rotfl:

Went for a surprise trip in March which was around $1K (it was supposed to be our "under $400 quick trip", but a storm back home cancelled our flights and we were 'forced' to spend a few extra days at WDW). Went again for the F&G Festival in May which was more like $1600ish, and we have a trip booked for F&W in October which'll be about the same. But I recently got super into Dave Ramsey's debt repayment stuff and so the October trip is a little up in the air :confused3
