I know everyone has different budgets but I am curious about what the average is, if there is one. So for those who have gone or are going, did your planned budget work for you or did you go over? Was the food more than you expected? Did you do many excursions? Did you hit the spa? I only ask because we are planning a 10 day vacation in June 2018 and I am big on budgeting money to be comfortable. I know it will be pricey(this is Aulani after all) but I want to put enough aside to have a great time and not have to check every price tag next to every menu item at every dinner ya know? We have a family of four, and DH is a teacher. So I definitely have to start now!

I think this depends on if you have a kitchen and plan to eat in at all. There is one report over on the DVC trip reports that breaks their costs down to the penny! http://www.disboards.com/threads/aulani-trip-report-mostly-meal-planning.3427542/
I know that I found the prices to be on par with every other high end Hawaii resort.
Ulu Cafe was actually surprisingly reasonable to me, but it is serve yourself and I liked the casualness of it. We had lunch at Off The Hook by the pool one day and really liked it, burgers were about 12, small pizza was about 10 and it came with sides. I want to say for 4 of us, it might have been $65/70 with the tip. I guess if you plan to eat at the resort restaurants for every meal a reasonable budget would be $60-85 per adult, per day without alcohol.

For our family of 2 adults, 1 child we brought about $2200 for food, spa, and souvenirs for a 5 day trip. We did not have a kitchen and ate at the resort or across the street. Our most expensive meals were Makahiki Menehune Mischief dinner and Monkeypod dinner.

Thank you both. And holy cow that is the most seriously detailed list I have ever seen. Im thinking based on the above and a kitchen at our disposal I might budget about $5500. Thank you again!

I think that is very generous and will take you far. It certainly doesnt hurt to have extra and even left over money (LOL-never happened to me but, just saying) Happy planning!
