Ok my sister (and best friend :) ) and I are going down to Disney/Orando Universal studios, next week. We have tickets and hotel already booked and payed for through Expedia I am just wondering now, how much money should I bring for pocket cash and for food for the 2 of us?

What is a good amount to have for meals and shopping and such?

Our hotel room has a fridge and microwave so we were planning on doing the supermarket thing to cut down on food costs but even then I'm not sure how much we would need to spend there.

Any tips on saving money would also be apreciated.

2 people? 1 loaf of bread. 1 package of bologna. 1 Gallon of milk. 1 box of cereal. Bring along some packaged condiments (mustard, ketchup). Drink water or milk. About $3/day to eat. There's your starting point, feel free to add from there.

I'd budget about $30 dollars a day........ for just the bare minimum. no souvies or anything.

Depends a lot on how you eat and buy. Will you be eating on property or off? Will you be eating counter service, table service or a combo of both? Are you big on snacks? What type of shopping do you expect to do? Are you buying for everyone at home, or just a shirt or such for yourself? If you are eating at Disney you may want to take a look at the menus here. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/disneydining.cfm to start you off. We usually spend about $35 to $40 a day per adult on food average when not on the dining plan. That would usually be one meal per day sit down, one counter service, and sometimes a snack. To save money a lot of times you can bring sandwiches or you can share meals. Esp at places like Wolfgang Puck Express and eating off property is much cheaper, but you loose a lot of time. For shopping offsite is also cheaper, the outlets/Character Mickey store, if you can't or don't want to do that, Downtown Disney has a 10 and below store. The Adults in our family buy very little to take home unless we make it to the Disney outlet at the mall, maybe $50 a trip max, the kids get $5 per day to spend (usually 10 days or so) and one thing we will buy them around $20-30 ave. We tip housekeeping $5 - $10 per day depending on if we are in one room or two. Parking is extra if you are offsite. $14 per day, free onsite, or if you have an annual pass. Well that's a start for you, good luck, and have fun.

Thanks, we are planning to eat once at the Harry Potter Theme park in the Three Broomsticks, we also have reservations for a lunch at the disney castle with the princesses but thats already paid for. Im thinking we will try and mostly eat what we buy from the supermarket with small meals or snacks at the park as needed so $30 a day for food the days we will be at the parks (5 days) sounds generouse enough, and we will most likely share a lot of the costs and the food. I have a lot of money put away, that I have been saving and squirrling away for this trip I just wanted to know if what I had was actually enough... I will have, by the time we go about $2000 to play with there. But we arent renting a car so there may be some cab fairs in there as well and I dont know what other transport is available.
