How much $$ medical insurance do you think is enough

Normally I feel this is enough, I never would question it, but here I sit doing just that. I just called my work I insurance, Sunlife. We are insured up to 1 million each (husband and myself). COVID works as any other illness I was told. Doctor fees. Hospital stays, flights home if needed 100%.

We are driving for two weeks (Florida) in December, we have our own place.
Would you get additional coverage? My girlfriend has 3 million, and has me all over online looking at quotes now.

If I were planning this, being double-vaccinated I would not be anticipating a catastrophic illness, so I personally feel that 1MM each would be enough.

I just booked our travel medical with BCAA for our trip later this week. We automatically get $10million each if we are fully vaccinated. Our 13r yr old automatically gets $10million whether she is vaxxed or not (she is).

Speaking from experience..... in 2016 our family of 4 was on my celebration trip in hawaii because I had finished a year of chemo, radiation and a stem cell transplant and beat lymphoma. We always thought we would be fine and nothing would happen to us but we learned the hard way that you just never know.
While at Aulani we did a helicopter tour and our helicopter crashed in pearl harbour. Dh had an unstable fracture to his back and required surgery to insert 2 rods and 4 screws, my oldest son had CT's, blood work but was thankfully un injured, I broke both ankles - 1 required surgery - and broke 5 vertebrae in my back And was having breathing and heart issues. Our 16yo was under the water for too long and spent 6 days in icu on life support and didn't survive . Our medical bills just for Dh and our 16yo were well north of 250k And they were heavily discounted due to the situation. someone/some service picked up the bill for both our oldest and myself. Our insurance was amazing and so thankful we had it through dh's work. Not a penny came out of our pockets - insurance paid with no questions asked (to us anyway) they (or someone..... still a huge blur and lots we don't remember) provided our 21yo accommodations and a security guard to hang out with, changed our plane tickets to business class (Canadian/Australian embassy's we're amazing) and provided us with a nurse to travel with us and get us home, transport to the hospital on this end. our contact at the embassy's coordinated everything for us and also arranged for the cremation and all paperwork so ds could travel home with us in my lap.
I look at travel insurance very different now. Although insurance is difficult for me to get we always ensure we have more then enough to cover any possibility. Sadly crap can happen.

I have to tell you I almost jumped on a thread you posted on and said "where the heck have you been" as you've been away from the DIS for awhile,, ,atleast I didn't do that ,,thank goodness. I am happy to see you posting again, we have missed you.
When I lost my younger brother a couple of years ago I learned that not only is life very fragile but sometimes sharing your story with others helps them heal. Thank-you for adding to my healing.

When I lost my younger brother a couple of years ago I learned that not only is life very fragile but sometimes sharing your story with others helps them heal. Thank-you for adding to my healing.

it has been a while. December will be our first kid free trip to Disney and the first time there since the accident. Mixed feelings but I am looking forward to Christmas for the first time in many years!

Just something I do every time I return to Disney ,,,I go to the garden center here and ask for Forget Me Not packets of flower seeds.
They have to be sealed and made in USA to take them to USA. I find a quiet spot in Epcot with a cup of hot tea and sprinkle the flower seeds in memory of my mom ,dad, and brother.

I can understand the mixed feelings , but remember you are going to be making some new memories which is so important for healing.
I'll be ringing those Jingle Bells for you! Say Hi to Santa for me and checkout the Christmas Tree Trail.

If anyone has read any on my posts. I am clutz 101. I presently have 3 broken (severely) toes from stubbing them on wood. I was going to the washroom in the night. (renovations)
The last trip, Dec 2019, I was doing my daily walk, didn’t see an uneven sidewalk, and yep, I went flying. My girlfriend had to call my husband, I was bleeding everywhere, and had trouble walking for two weeks there.
I just purchased an annual plan for both of us. 10 million.

That is an amazing idea do you take the seeds in your carry on or checked luggage? Any issues taking them with flying?

I take them in my checked bag stored in my makeup bag. So far no issues.
I don't want to take something that could hurt USA agricultural system so I always get seeds made and packaged in the USA.
