I do not think they will do away with it at all to many members use it and it would raise a very big problem with a large number of people I would think.

I think it will be announced after the OKW slide is completed. When is it scheduled to be completed, 6-12 months? That's when IMHO

I think it will be over by the time DVC reaches 100,000 members. At the rate it's selling, that should be in a couple of years.

We don't use it often, but like knowing that it's an option.

I agree.

The OKW slide is slated to be open late December/early January.

I'm more optimistic that there aren't any current plans to end pool hopping. It may not last "forever" but I don't see any reason for it to end in the near term.

Chances are very good that we'll be losing the Disney Store discount (seems like it's a matter of time until they are sold to Children's Place). If they took away pool hopping -- which costs nothing -- that would be losing two perks within a year or two.

As I've mentioned, the increasing numbers of DVC members is making the decision inevitible. I do think there is a cost associated with Deluxe resorts not being able to properly care for thier paying guests due to too many people visiting from other resorts and local pool crashers, stealing pool services.

I also agree.

I voted with my heart, I hope it doesn' t end, and I'm sticking with that! I don't use it, but I can see that people do like it.

Never is a very long time, I think we needed a couple of more options in the 3-7 year range and 8-15 years range. I voted never because I think it's the closest, spiritually, to my view.

My personal view is that maybe there will be a few more restrictions put into place in terms of # of pools restricted and dates. If Disney wants to deal with pool hopping as a problem issue there are a lot of steps it can take to deal with people who have genuinely no right to be at a certain hotels pool area before deciding DVC members are the problem. IMHO DVC members make up a small portion of people pool hopping, Disney could easily include DVC members ( with the hotels guests) in any measures they put into place to exclude the locals, off site visitors and WDW guests moving from their own hotel.

I expect pool hopping to still be in opperation in some guise for at least another 5-7 years, beyond that it will depend on the situation at the time.

I'm going to say "never", simply because I don't see it as being an issue in need of urgent attention. There have been some good posts recently detailing the fact that the resorts have absolutely no desire to crack-down on pool hopping by paying guests. Why should they care what we DVC-ers do?

Unless it's done as part of a concerted effort to eliminate improper hopping throughout the resorts, I think it would represent an unnecessary black eye for DVC.

This would be my feeling as well. To end DVC pool hopping but to make no changes that also end the non-DVC (possibly non WDW) folks from pool hopping doesn't make a lot of sense. Disney invited DVC owners to partake in pool hopping. It's a perk for purchasing. Pool hopping was ended at SAB because they added on more permanent rooms that had the potential to overload SAB. Pool hopping wasn't permitted at AKL because of the special circumstances of the animals.

I don't think pool hopping is so widely used by DVC members as to create a problem. The fact that many CMs are puzzled by pool hopping would indicate it's not a perk used by a great number of members.

I'm saying never because I don't think it's a big deal to Disney one way or the other and because the OKW pool slide will actually take the pressure off of pool hopping by keeping those wanting a slide at OKW. Even with new resorts opening in the future, new pools open with them, hence no need to do away with PH.

Of course I havent done it since I used to stay at the BWV and walk over to SAB, before the BCV was built.

I like your explanation better than mine. I hope your right and I'm wrong.

I hope so too Desperado even though I don't use the perk anymore. I really think the OKW slide will be the thing that keeps PH going as opposed to the many who view it as it's death.

I voted for "Never". I don't look at the OKW slide as an effort to eliminate pool hopping, but a an effort to help OKW retain its value as newer resorts with slides are built. I don't look at "larger roomsize" as a big selling point when you have to carry your luggage up the stairs to get to your room.

I also agree that most DVC members don't pool hop simply because it's easier to book at the resort and use the pool closest to where they're staying.

If pool hopping is outlawed, only outlaws will pool hop!

IMHO most pool hopping is now done illegally. If Disney wants to cut down on overcrowding at pools it would be worthless to eliminate DVC's perk. Instead they will need to get serious about enforcing the existing rules.
