I'm going to an auction at my alma mater purely because of one item, but I need to know what is reasonable to bid. It's a 2 night stay at the GCH, concierge plus a lunch at Club 33 (which also includes admission for that day.)

I'm getting married in November, and only have time for a short honeymoon at that time (I'm a teacher, you know how it goes.) As I got engaged at Disneyland, I think this would be super fun. BUT, how high should I go? What is out of control/not worth it? $500, $1000, $1500...any help is useful:)

You can't really put a price on the Club 33 admission; I've seen lunch alone at Club 33 go for $700 at another charity auction. The room at the GC is worth probaly $800 alone since it's concierge for two nights. Add that to the Club 33 lunch and you could easily see that prize go for $1500 or more.

The actual value of the lunch is probably $70 but you'll be paying for the opportunity to eat there. :)

Wow can't help you out on that but I sure would like to have an opportunity to bid on this (where is this at? Just kidding couldn't make it down probably in time). Good luck!!!!!

at the auction it should have a fair market value attached, so remember that whatever you pay over that price.......get a tax recipt and claim it with your charitable deductions.:)

Being from the Bay Area, I have to ask, which school is having the auction?

I garduated from Saint Francis, myself, as did dh.

Julia I sent you a PM

The llisted value, I've found out, is just under $1200. We'll see how popular it is tommorow. I just hope the rain stops soon!

So I got into a short bidding war with someone who had a "rent-a-bidder." (A student whose job it is to win for people). I bid up to 1100, but it ended up going to someone else entirely for 1500. Too rich for my blood, but I was disappointed:)

Good news is I may have a job offer at the school for next year...yippie!

Well how about that, I had the winning price right on the nose. ;)

Even though you didn't win it IS good news about the job! Good luck! :)
