We are going in 2013, and looking to put our deposit down in the early fall this year. Each month applying a payment to the account (Wahoo Target gift cards).

We are thinking we will stay at a value resort, have a flight, and get the dining plan.

I totally understand that any numbers would be a rough idea by asking here. Just trying to get what I can in order finance wise.

:thumbsup2

They deposit is $200 down with the remaining amount due 45 days prior to your trip. If you get your flights through Disney the entire amount of the flights are due at booking.

Very good to know. That brings up another question...if I book my flights outside of Disney, can I still use the Magical Express bus?

I believe that it's still a $200 deposit on packages (room +tickets + dining). Flight costs are due when the flight is booked and is usually not refundable.

You can make partial payments any time up until final due date (45 days from check in?).

Yes, you just need to call them and give them your flight info.

Yep - just call Disney and have them add your flight info (flight number/arrival time/departure time) to your reservation. :thumbsup2

Absolutely. You just call reservations with your flight info and they will add it to your reservation.:thumbsup2

The $200 deposit is for booking a package. Should you choose not to do the dining plan and get your tickets eslsewhere, the deposit is only one night of room charges.

Excellent...is there any benefit to booking a flight thru the Disney website vs on your own?

If you purchase Disney's trip insurance they will only cover the flight costs if the flight is booked through Disney. That's the only benefit that I can think of.

There isn't a benefit for booking thru Disney, book which ever way will get you the cheapest flights. When we fly, Disney seems to have the same price that I can get on my own so I just book through them to keep everything in one spot.

I'm so sorry...I have one more question.

If I put a deposit down without a flight on it, can I go back and add a flight later thru the Disney reservation?

I'd really like to be able to book Art of Animation for our Dec 2013 trip, but we just need a single room, not a suite. So since I know there are less of those there, and it's the new place...I wanted to book early so we were sure to get in there.

The issue is we won't have the flight money saved up by this fall.

I prefer to book the flight myself- i get a confirmation number and can watch that flight weekly for any changes that may take place

I know you didn't ask, but when you book thru Disney, they will ask if you want travel insurance. Say no right away - it is non-refundable. After you put the phone down it is too late to cancel it.
You can always get travel insurance on your own at much better rates & coverage before you pay for the full amount. (The earlier you get travel insurance the lower the rate - within 7-14 days after the deposit is generally a good time).

You can always call and book flights at a later date thru disney, even if your package is already booked. You just have to pay for the flights in full at time of booking.
