Can anyone confirm the price for new members buying in at OKW direct with disney?

Thanks

Confirm? No. You always want to call and ask because things change.

But I believe you can buy in for $90/point with a free cruise incentive. If you want the cruise, it becomes a reasonable deal, especially as it's an extended contract.

Otherwise, I wouldn't consider direct and would look at the resale market.

We just paid $101 per point a couple weeks ago for a 50pt contract, 2057 exp. date. You can find cheaper contracts resale, we had been looking for months for a specific use year and 2057 exp. 50 point contract and got tired of waiting. Points showed up the same day in our account and no closing costs, no ROFR and thru Dis all new OKW are 2057 contracts.

Someone mentioned the price of $90 and the cruise but noone else commented and others have said $101. I am in the UK and would prefer to email my guide but he takes ages to respond.

Was hoping someone would confirm the $90 price and whether there is further discount if you dont want the cruise.

Thanks

I could be wrong but I don't think price for OKW direct from Disney is $90 but more like $101. And I do not think cruise incentive is available for any resorts but BLT, AKV, SSR & VGC. Best to call guide to get exact, up-to-minute pricing but you may also want to check over on dvc news dot com as that site is very good at posting what's presently happening on pricing & promos ( click on dvc program tab at top and look for pricing & promos link on right in dropdown box ).

Good luck :goodvibes

I was told last Sunday that as of that day OKW was $90/pt direct from Disney. I was also told that the cruise incentive does NOT apply. That is only for the current resorts.

That makes it the cheapest on site DVC with a long contract.

Yes - no other incentives get anywhere near it. I have no idea how long this offer will last though but in most cases it's still cheaper to go resale for the OKW. Even the extended are in the $70's/pt. For a small add on it's a very good deal.

Dvc news.com lists prices as of 3/9 as $101 per point for new or current members with 160 new or 25 add ons.

I'm confused. Can non-DVC owners buy into other DVC properties directly through Disney?

I just attended a DVC preview while on our 4th Disney family vacation March 5-12. The DVC guide told me the only two properties available were Animal Kingdom and Bay Lake Towers.

First off, they left out SSR and VGC which are current resorts.

And second - yes, you can buy any DVC resort thru DVC. Sometimes you have to wait for the points in the UY you want. DVC gets those through the ROFR process and do not always have every UY at a particular time. There are no discounts available on the sold-out resorts so the price per point is it. But they also have not charged closing costs for first time buyers in the past on sold out resorts so that can help out some. For the most part resale will be a better deal but individual situations can vary.

SSR and VGC (not sure what this stands for) were not mentioned. The guide stated the only resorts available for purchase were at either Bay Lake or Animal Kingdom.

While we are looking at one particular resort, I really wish the guide would have informed me we could buy into any resort. This certainly was not relayed to me in any form or fashion.

VGC - Villas at Grand Californian - the current selling resort on the west coast at Disneyland.

Very few guides seem to ever bring up the sold out resorts. Why the guide didn't mention SSR at least is odd. I believe the incentives are the same for it as AKV. The best incentives are currently VGC but I could see them thinking you wouldn't be interested in it since you were at WDW. And as long as OKW is at $90 it's the least expensive direct.

Hi FloFlo! My husband and I just bought at OKW on Thursday and we paid $90 per point. I can't answer about the cruise because we only bought 100 points and there is a minimum amount of points (I think they said 160) and maybe only certain resorts. They did match our points bought though and automatically gave us another 100 points (2009 points) to bank right now and will get 100 points in April, so that was cool too.

But yes, as of Thursday the price was $90 a point because I paid it :goodvibes

We're really excited too! :woohoo:

When we were touring the models in Dec. we'd asked about BWV and at that time, inventory there was $98/point. I have no idea if there was any wiggle room there or not (I doubt it). But it stuck in my head as being more expensive than the promo rate for BLT from the first Webcast.

Are you a brand new DVC-er? Reason being is, I thought 160 points was the minimum for brand new members, but you said you purchased 100. If that's the case, this is something I can really start looking into! Thanks. :goodvibes

Hi RedBox Car! YES!! We are new to DVC!:banana: I've always wanted to buy in, but couldn't previously due to finances. I've had some financial changes and then during the trip, we stopped by the DVC counter with some questions and were told that they had opened up a couple of resorts with a buy-in of 100 pts instead of 160pts. We were already Wyndham timeshare owners, but I come to Disney every year and wanted my own piece of the magic - so we're starting out small to see how it goes and if all goes well, I think we'll be ebaying off the Wyndham and buying more DVC points. Obviously OKW was one of them offering buy-in at 100pts and, I think Animal Kingdom was another but it was more than $90 a point. It was going to cost $11,200 to buy in there. Can't remember if he said there was another one at 100 pt minimum.

So if you can do it, go for it!!
