I went to the new Wal-mart tonight and milk was $3.57 a gallon..:earseek: ...It's usually under $2.00 with my 8 gallon fillup at UDF....
Don't even get me going on gas prices... ...30 cent a gallon gas hike this week.. ....Whatever happened to cheap gas prices prior to the election?

Ivan had a lot to do with the fuel price increase this week. They had to evacuate many of the offshore oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and that cut US production substantially. I believe that some of them were also damaged in the storm.

BTW, a gallon of milk in my area is about $3.25.

Hurricanes are causing gas prices to hike.

Don't know about milk. Don't drink milk.

I thought the refinery had to do with prices going up...wonder if they're coming back down to where they were.. ..they always seem to take their time when LOWERING the price..

I live in Austin, TX, and milk here is about $3.89 at HEB, $3.59 at WalMart, $3.29 for WalMart's own label, I've found the cheapest to be about $2.89 at Walgreens. Of course, they hope you will buy other higher priced items when you shop for milk. For the last month I stop in at Walgreens every other morning after dropping the kids off at school. I fugure we go throught about 6 gallons a week, or 24 a month, so that saves me about $24 a month.

We were paying $3.79/gallon 2 months ago...
Now it's down to $3.29, but WalMart and
some discount grocers sell it for $2.99.

Gas is around $1.87/gallon & on the rise.

Good grief 6 gallons per week?

Yes, 6 gallons a week, sometimes more. I have two kids and we drink milk ourselves. That's not so astonishing!

$5.89 a gallon. Hadn't realized how high we were....cost of paradise, I guess...:(

Milk is around 369 a gallon here....only one that will touch the stuff in this house is my daughter though so a gallon will last a week or until it goes bad here!
Gas is 2.09 a gallon.

We were paying $2.19 per gallon at Costco, but dh said it went up last time...I think he said $2.75???
**Edited: OOPS-I just asked him and he only paid $2.25 per gallon! :)

We go through a gallon a day here. :p

Oh Shep, I feel your pain! Milk prices at Shop N Save here are $3.45/gal, but they run them "on sale" now for about $2.67/gal and that is their brand.

Gas here fluctuates between $1.57 and $1.89 on any given day. There can be as much as a .30 swing overnight.

An hour northwest of Houston: $3.29 a gallon in our small town, and about 50 cents less 20 minutes north of us in the larger city (College Station).

We aren't milk drinkers, so we only need a 1/2 gallon a week, and that, unfortunately isn't just half the price!

The cheapest I've seen milk here is at Walmart, it was $3.19 a gallon. I usually only buy it by the half-gallon, I never drink it and my kids drink maybe a glass a day (they do eat yogurt & cheese, though, so they get their calcium).

Gas (regular unleaded) was $1.84 a gallon when I filled up on Thursday morning. That's actually the cheapest I've seen it in a while, the week before it was $1.87 and the week before that, $1.89.

Geeesh, I guess it's high everywhere. Yesterday, the grocery had a sale for $2.89 and people were getting their 6 gallon limit. I probably go thru 3 a week because of doing daycare but I don't have the room to store 6 if I wanted to. Wow! It's usually $3.39.

The last time I looked at the grocery store, Hood milk was $4.19.
Fortunately for me, the milkaholic, the Mobil OTR sells it for $2.69.

Gas near our house is still in the $1.85-1.95 range, but near where I work (in MA) it's like $1.75
