With a few months until my DLP vacation, I realized the only French I know is from a French restaurant menu! "Escargot" probably won't help me, so how much French do I need for DLP? I bought a French for Travelers book, but do I need any more French? What basic French phrases do I need?

I'm afraid that I might not know enough French and have to cry in the corner of my hotel room!

You can get away without having to speak any French as many of the CM's speak English.
However an appropriate bonjour, merci and s'il vous plait will go a long way in making an effort :)

You don't need to speak french for DLP, however a bonjour and merci is good to use just to be poilite.

All information/maps/menus etc can be found in English.
Some attraction are in french however have never been a problem for us.

As the others have said, you don't 'need' to know any within DLP (the rest of Europe puts us to shame with their grasp of other languages!). But, it makes your stay a little more pleasurable to at least be able to start and end a converstation with a merci beacoup, bonjour, au revoir etc (once they hear your bad accent they automatically switch to English LOL). We learn a little more before our stay each year and our accents are getting better, but we only try a little French because it is good for the children and is nice to at least 'try' to interract the French way. But in all honestly you don't need to.

Thank you for the replies!

I hope to find a McDonald's at Disney because I want to see what the French call a Quarter Pounder!

Hey!

There is a Mcdonalds in The Rainforest Cafe :) And don't worry about speaking French - you won't need to. All the times I have been there i've only come across one French person who I didn't understand but there was an English person right near by to translate :)
