How much for tipping?

What about buffets? Do you tip the same % ?

I tip the same at buffets. The server still brings beverage refills and clears away all the plates you bring to the table. And if you are like us, you don't just have one entree plate, one salad plate and one dessert plate. They are constantly removing plates from our table.

since we serve ourselves then really the only task the waiter does is bring us 2 drinks each and maybe take our plates....

as we don't tip at all in Australia, this is something we cant quite get used to. we try but wish all buffet prices included a tip thus saving us trying to work out how much is enough.

TS we tip about $10 USD ($12 AUD) for just us 2....

But I really hate tipping, it just never seems to stop.
But we do it because that's whats expected of us not because we get good service.

Thank you everyone!

Yes, my DD is under 3, so she will not be getting her own meals (plus, she is a light eater...so, not worth spending the money on an additional plate). I am definitely anticipating our total bill being below $100 per sit down service as both my husband and I will order what comes with our dining plan and don't drink alcohol, so I think under $100 for 2 adults is reasonable.

That's a good idea about leaving a tip each night. I never thought about having a new maid each day...just assumed it was the same one all week.

This is debatable.

Actually it isn't debatable. Housekeeping is not considered a tipped position because they make more than most of the other positions. Bell Services, Food Servers and Valet are all considered tipped position.

But if you choose to tip, you are free to tip anyone you like.
