Went on mapquest.com trying to figure it all out and worried that palm parkway area is kind of far from disney?? but i read/heard it is close to dowtown disney- about a 5 min. drive....

does anyone know the area and could give me feedback?? thankx:wave:

Palm parkway is about 3 miles from the east gate (MGM side ) we stay in this area all the time and it is a real easy commute 5 minutes or under

the WDW resorts vary - the MK resorts are a monrail or boat away from the MK.

the Epcot resorts are a few feets from Epcot - a boat ride to Studios.

AKL is around a half mile from AK. (they don't look that far apart - but they are)

CBR and PC are right next door to Studios - PC is across the main street from WWoS.

the All stars resorts and CSR are close to BB and AK.

OKW, PO are a boat ride from DD - and about 1 1/2 miles to 2 miles from Epcot.

Off site are generally about 10 miles to any theme parks - WDW property is much closer around 2 miles in some cases - is some cases it is adjoining the WDW property line.

the DD hotels - D/S are on property but not owned by WDW.

the AK and MK are the furthest apart - I would say 10 miles (this is an estimate).l

Nothing is really close to the MK but the MK resorts (okay FW is a boat ride away).

one of the things that makes staying at a WDW resort nicer is the WDW transportation - either bus, boat or monrail - all are pretty nice - you leave your car (or don't bother to rent in) in the parking lot - and they do the driving. they come every 20 minutes or so. (exception are at lunch time - everyone has eat)

it doesn't look like you are too far from everything.

When we went down, I was nervous also. It was our first "extended" time offsite.

Well, we were at Vistana which is close to DTD. I couldn't believe how relatively close everything was. And I believe we were closer to EPCOT than we were when we were staying at WL. When we went to MK, it took us about 12-14 minutes from our condo to the MK parking lot. It took us longer than that at WL just for a bus to PULL UP somtimes. :p I remember one time we waited for 20 minutes for the EPCOT bus. We didn't have many problems with WDW transportation, but we did realize we like taking our van. We must be control freaks or something.

When we would drive around I would be saying, "oh, that's where the Marriott is", or ,"that's where the Hampton is". It all made sense then.

Johnny Old Boy.........where did you get that great map? I wonder if I printed it out if I could read the writing better.

The map is on Disney's Canadian web site. It is a large .PDF file that would best be printed in a large scale plotter. It is small but legible if printed at 81/2 X 11 on a good color printer. In Acrobat reader you can increase the scale to make it easeier to read on screen. Try 150% or so.

It's the best online map of WDW I've found so far.

cool. can't believe it's only 9 days.... doesn't feel like it, counted down from 170 days
not in good mood lately either :faint:

OK, Spicey, I'll eat half my hat:crazy2:

Palm Parkwy is not shown on

http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/propertymap.JPG

But it is shown on This Map which is a newer and more detailed version of the one that Spiceycat has linked to.

The link I provided is to a large PDF file. You need Adobe Reader (most computers have this or it is a free download:Adobe Reader ) It will take a while to download if you have a dial-up connection but once you have downloaded it you can save it for reference.

On the newer map, Palm Parkway is just to the lower right of the white Legend box.

P.S. anybody recommend a good barbecue sauce to go with this hat?

neither one has the correct exit numbers for I-4. We stayed at Vistana and our exit was 68.

I was wondering why our directions said, "used to be exit ***". I thought maybe it was done a while ago, but maybe this is a more recent change.

all the states are going to the miles from other state route - so they exit are easier to understand.

would you believe Al already had this....

when are you going - it is 6 weeks or more then to go to this site
http://www.floridakiss.com/

you want their free vacation planning kit

it has a map of the Kissimmee area - it also has where all the hotels/condo are located in Kissimmee - it has another that shows where all the nearby theme parks (including Orlando and LBV-WDW).

plus some other stuff - bunch of restuarants - shops - it is a very nice guide and very, very easy to understand. much better than the maps I got from AAA or the state. (always get the state maps at the border of each state - something they change - the state maps will have the latest addition or changes)

JOB - I just couldn't resist....Sorry about that.
